@granada: Instead of the extrusion-step you can imho also use the "connect" tool.
I'm not sure if the connect options existed 7! years ago... please look at the date before posting:P |

The reason you want short lightmapping times is so you can iterate, the lighting looks pretty flat atm. and if you have a lightmapping time of a couple of minutes you can do 100 lightmaps on a day ins ... |

ctrl-right mouse button for panning
shift-right mouse button for zooming

the special thing about this program is that it doesn't really work with subdivision levels, but it subdivides the mesh in realtime around your stroke. It's really intuitive but imo zbrush and mudbox ... |
