Hi,
Would it be possible to limit the axis your scaling in, like with 'move'. It would be so much easier for lining textures up, if i could get one scale axis correct - for example, the x & y, and then lock this, by clicking the 'y' button. This would then allow me to simply scale on the Y axis, making texturing so much easier.
Also... with respects the command that allows you to make a texture the size of the face, could this be made, so that in fact, the texture could size to the global size of the selected faces. For example if i had 6 faces selected that make up a door object, i would want the texture to scale to the size of all the faces put together, rather than repeated on each of the 6 faces.
Boy.. i confused myself explaining that.
Cheers for your great support
Steve

Hi yertari,
About the scaling: isn't that behaviour already present? At least, I can just click the Y button and scale a texture on a face in only the Y dimension. Or, isn't that what you meant?
I'll leave the UV mapping scale question up to PJ - he knows more about that than I do. |

Hi,
yes this is exactly what i meant - but that doesnt work for me
if i select Y i can still move in all axis
odd!
Thanks

Also guys, when i swap a texture over, the UV coords reset. Ok, i turn auto uv off, but if the replaced texture needs tweaking, when i switch back to auto uv mode everything resets.
In auto uv mode, can we have it so that when i swap a texture for another one, it doesnt reset the coords?
Cheers

Hmmmm, actually, no you can't. Autotexturing is dependend on texture size (for texture alignment during map creation, see the recent discussions about this topic on these forums for detailed information), so uv coordinates need to be recalculated when you apply a new texture.
Could you please elaborate on the problem you are suggesting we solve here, because I don't think I understand?
The way I see it, the texturing is either (a) tweaked, in which case AutoUV is off and the UV coordinates stay the same when assigning a new texture, or (b) default, in which case default is the best we can do anyway. Thanks in advance for enlighting us on this issue! |

My bad. I checked our current development version and it was already implemented in there. Your version does not have this functionality yet though. It will be in the next version! |
