The Sanssouci Palace
I'm not convinced of the texturing of the copper roof. Also, I would have liked to build up firstly the back side of the building complex (but unfortunately I didn't find enough images for that) and secondly the wine terraces, but the model already consists of about 27.000 triangles and I'm afraid DeleD wouldn't stand it for a long time. Also, I already don't dare lightmapping it. For one of the raytraced images, it took me at least 15 minutes.
Lastly, I'm not fully content with the lighting. I tried gile[s], but it crashed all the time and I didn't fully understand the program. Also, I somehow wanted to import it into blender3d, but the only possible way was with the .obj exporter of DeleD, but when importing in blender, I got the error message "too many materials"
However, here it is.
Screenshot 1 - gile[s]

Now THAT is what I call artwork!
Thanks Fletcher for donating this to the community! We'll include it in the next release of DeleD too. Again, great work, I can say nothing else. |

*wow*, very very very very nice modeling!
And extra bonus points for fiddling around with our still experimental raytracer |

Faints. Wakes up, looks again, faints...
It's already been said. There is nothing I can intelligently add.

Awesome work. Very detailed. I wish I had the patience (and skill) to model something like that.
I'm curious about the error you had with blender. I'm wondering if it's a fault in blender or something I overlooked in the obj exporter. I'm guessing it's blender but just to be sure I'm going to experiment with the file. |

I used the obj exporter the other night to get my stuff in blender. I noticed that when I used the option for the vertex winding, the UVs ended up reversed, I guess because you didn't rewind them too? All my textures were backwards. _________________

Ah I see what you mean. Yeah it's just the winding order thats changed, not the texcoords. .obj uses the opposite of .dmf files. I suppose it would make sense to reverse them too. I'll change that.
Anyway I tested the file with blender and it seems blender doesn't like more than 16 materials for some reason. The file uses 25. It also isn't smart enough to find the material paths. Importing the file into Milkshape worked flawlessly so it seems to be blender thats not playing nice. |

Ok I've updated the texture mapping. Thanks Vampyre for noticing that. Hopefully it can get updated on the DeleD website soon. Here is a link to the new version. http://rmfx.50webs.com/OBJExporter.zip |

BTW: Thanks for this model. I use it as a test sample, because it has enough geometry to be meaningful in a "real level" context. |

I'm not too sure about how long it took me but with this model, there's a lot of copy'n'paste work, as you could see on the pictures. In total, it was about 2 or 3 days. |
