I know DeleD may not need this kinda stuff, but simple animation could be really useful. A simple 'rotate about point', 'move to point' and 'Follow spline' could let me create trains, cars, doors, lifts and a whole load of stuff to better my level.
then again... It could be a stupid suggestion _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world, those who can read binary and those who cant...

DeleD is a 3D Lowpoly Editor, i think that makes no sense with Animations. If DeleD would support these things, you must code this too in your 3D Engine (Export Data like 3ds max). Such things are easy to code. It is harder to load the Animation Data in your Engine, than code it self. |

http://www.fragmosoft.com/ This program can do all that, and it's only 20$. It's a good companion program for DeleD. _________________

I wasn't sure if it was DeleD sorta thing. From now on I'll just have to use animators in Irrlicht and load trains ect seperatly, and apply follow spline animators ect, If I'm not too lazy. _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world, those who can read binary and those who cant...

I like the idea of DeleD having an animation tool, that has also been discussed somewhere in the past (see here). It seems that it's not sure which way DeleD will take in the future and even IF they will create a sort of bone editor, it will be a long way to be able to use it on a comfortable way. _________________ Behold! We like the idea of having some sort of animation tool but, as Mr. Fletcher says, it will take ages to develop a good tool. That time would be taken away from DeleD development, which other users probably wouldn't like very much. Besides that, we have lots and lots of stuff to implement in DeleD anyway. So for now, we'll be concentrating on DeleD. If we decide to create an animation tool, we'll let everybody know immediately. |

maybe a new format could be created that supports animation, just for characters. Personally, I just need simple animations like rotate and move (as mentioned earlier) but bones would be cooler. _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world, those who can read binary and those who cant...

I don't think DeleD should be an animation tool.
However, it would be useful to be able to create "helpers" of various kinds, like splines, and mark them using user tags. That way, an exporter (or DMF reader) could treat these as "animation paths" for the engine.
Similarly, it would be useful with an object hierarchy (separate from grouping) with object pivots and parents. Again, if you then wanted to animate some of those objects, that could be done in the engine, with user tags on objects in DeleD.
In fact, a general "user tag" feature that lets you set an arbitrary number of key/value pairs would be very useful (for plugins, as well). |

Yes, that where another good idea. Real Animations would be difficult i think, and the "easy" use of DeleD would be in danger (bad english^^). But these "Help" Objects like Splines would be helpful indeed. |
