Of course it only exports textures that are actually used in the scene. Very Happy

(I have noticed you bringing this up more often... why the concern, if I may ask? AFAIK, all our exporters work this way (at least the ones we have developed), did you run into trouble with an exporter that didn't do this?)

This really is amazing news. If you can get it working right (and I have full faith you can) it will be a real life saver. We have just bought torque and currently buildings have to be done in dts format because we simply have no great way from maya to .dif. This would be great because I can get maya models into deled fine its just exporting them.

Also personally I use it for the few models I do (I dont do enough to afford maya or 3ds) and it really is a great product to use. Ill download the alpha as soon as its released and send all our models through it. We have a lot so it should give it a good test.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that the Torque export plugin won't be freeware. Development of this particular plugin has taken a very large amount of time, time that would otherwise have been spent on the development of DeleD PRO instead. We have yet to decide an exact price of the Torque export plugin (probably around 15 US dollars), but we felt we should inform you about this prior to releasing the plugin so you know what to expect from us. Smile

Any ideas of its price range? Wink

I think it's more than fair you guys charge for it.

Nope. Haven't run into this problem with any exporters Deled has put out. Just asked out of curiosity. Smile No worries. Deled Rocks.

Thats understandable. In order to make this pluggin has to be a major undertaking. (the price you mentioned is totally reasonable.) Smile

Well, I have to back off what I said. I don't know if you, or someone else made the exporters, but the .x and obj exporters don't strip out the default textures. Sorry, wasn't trying to mislead you. Just goofed.

No worries, you are helping us here! Much appreciated!

The .obj exporter is not ours (made by Ryan Fleet), but the built-in .X exporter is. There is also the NuXporter by HPlus, don't know about that one.

What we'll do is:
1. The 'is material used' flag will be implemented in the 1.5 file format. This makes it a lot easier for (3rd party) plugin writers to only export the used materials.
2. The built-in .X exporter will strip out unused textures (1.5x)
3. We will built an explicit option to strip out unused textures into DeleD (1.5x), so even if a particular exporter doesn't support it, you can do conveniently do it from the exporter.
