|
|
I have a small industrial warehouse type building, which was built by carving out polyline rooms from a large cube shell.
Most of the walls were mapped with one material ("material20") but I now want them to be with another material ("wall24"). Unfortunately, the "replace material" dialog box doesn't really work. It replaces the material on one or two surfaces, but the majority of them are unaffected.
I've uploaded the map file to http://www.mindcontrol.org/~hplus/material-replace.dmf |

The Material Replace command works with selected polygons only. Have you tried selecting polygons and see what happens? |

Yes; I went into polygon mode and did ctrl-A (to select all), and it still didn't work on more than a few polygons. |

FWIW, I made it work by:
1) select all faces
2) verify it still doesn't work
3) delete selection
4) undo
5) now, replace material works! |

I think this has something to do with the level being lightmapped. The original Replace Material functionality was designed without lightmaps in mind. Remove the lightmaps and everything seems to work allright. Can you confirm? |

Yes, the light maps were removed by the "delete and undo" step, so that's probably what made it work. |
