When I work in Max, I'll typically configure just a single viewport to fill the screen, and then use hot-keys to switch between front, top, side and perspective views.
The new view switching functionality in Delgine gets us a large step closer to that workflow. However, there are two problems that significantly harshes the mellow:
1) When switching to UV view, and then back to Perspective, the camera is re-set to somewhere in the center of my model. I'd prefer the camera to be where I last left it.
2) There is no hot-key to switch between views (front, top, etc). Ideally, you use the Max hot-keys (T, F etc), but given that they're already taken for other commands, I'd settle for some other hotkey of your choice (or, perhaps, user-definable hot-keys).
Note that I'm not big on user-definable hot keys; your effort is better spent elsewhere. Just make it possible to switch views at all (and remember the camera position per view mode per window). |
