hi guys. It's been long since I posted screenshots here. Some days ago I rendered this gallery scene:
http://afecelis.gdlib.net/Indigo/gallery.jpg
And today I had some time to retake my good'ol deled and gave it a shot. I was very glad by the results:
Editor shot:
Irrlicht shot:
So, Jeroen and PJ, now you see why next feature I'd love to see is GI in the lightmapper?
Oh yes, that, and being able to turn shadow casting feature from lights on and off so that you can have only 1 light casting shadows and others as fill lights.
regards,
Alvaro
EDITED: Oh yes, and I used VD's nice trick to simulate a mesh emitter |

yup, your tutorial for cone lights. Same concept of merging a plane that wasn't calculated in the lightmaps makes it look fullbright (or self-illuminated)like the one above the pergola
It's not a light-casting mesh emitter but it looks like one.
btw; an area (square/rect) light would be perfect in deled!!!! you could scale it to fit your mesh emitter and the effect would be more realistic. |

I'm not sure I understand.. Did you make that model yourself? In DeleD? Where does that render pic come from?
The lightmapping result from DeleD looks good, though. Of course, it's nothing special in comparison to that rendered image. _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

My trick had nothing to do with emitting meshes. _________________

@Mr.Fletcher: I modeled it in 3dsmax (based on a scene that comes with FinalRender) and made the renders to try Indigo, Kerkythea and FinalRender out for comparative results. Then I exported to 3ds to be able to import the scene into blender for Yafray render tests and into deled, to lightmap it and export it to b3d to load it into irrlicht. And you're right, they're 2 totally different render concepts (arch visualizatoin and realtime rendering) but I'm very glad with the results obtained with deled. This is great for me as an architect since I usually want to make realtime walkthrus of what I design/model and here deled is crucial for importing my stuff and lightmapping it.
@VD:yup, but you mentioned something about leaving the cone light mesh out of the lightmap calculation to make it look as if it were "on" so I applied a similar concept here.
EDITED:here's the tut:

and here's the part that mentions it:

For best results you will want the spotlight polygons to remain at full brightness after a lightmapping. To do this, make sure you create the spotlight object after the lightmapping is finished, or use the trick in my other tutorial "Creating Glowing Surfaces". |

Afecelis: Awesome work!
And yes, those images definitely make me itch to start implementing GI. Frankly, I have images just like that (but rendered with top of the bill renderers) as desktop wallpaper for motivational purposes... |

That looks cool. The workflo sounds like a long one tho. You could most likely have done all that in Deled itself. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Hehe. I know what your talking about. But there is nothing that is emitting meshes.
It's a standard trick using a 'detail mesh'. _________________

hehehe, the scene was first thought just to be rendered with the GI-MLT engines; it was later that I decided to give it a try and test deled's power with it I know the scene is simple to model and deled is quite capable of creating it |

sure Jeroen! NP It's very basic yet it's got a lot of love put into it
in case anyone is interested I just finished some basic tutorials on how to use Gregor's Max2Indigo exporter here:
http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/forum/viewtopic.php?t=670
mmm, this reminds me I have a promise with Jeroen as well...mmmm...mmm...
I'll try to create some video tuts for Deled, if you don't mind |

Thanks for the gallery input! Video tuts for DeleD would be great! We now have over 1GB diskspace available for our site, so hosting is no problem anymore. Can't wait to see what you'll come up with! |

Looks very nice afecelis! I'd suggest that you use AA next time, but that isn't important for the scene itself. Great work! _________________ "Ave Jeroen et Paul-Jan!" populus clamant. |

Sindwiller, you mean AA in the Indigo render or in the deled version?
If you mean in deled, how do you set AA options? |
