Hi guys,
Just sent my entry to the contest's email.
In the end I couldn't add much to the scene As I foretold, I didn't have much time to work on it after the days I started it out, but here it is:
Just fixed the lamps and changed the floor for a grid. Also worked out a bit more on the sunlight and made it match with the shadows casted, hehehehe.
The other Idea I had was to do a night shot with point lights in each lamp but I did a quick test and it would've taken forever to render those lightmaps!
Trying this out was where I noticed the skybox bug reported in the forums.
ok, good luck to all contestants!!
Merry Xmas team!
best regards,
Alvaro F. Celis |

There are ways to speed this up until you're ready to do the final render.
Turn down the max lightmap resolution like 16x16 or even 8x8.
Turn off generate shadows.
Turn off smoothing.
You'll get like ~5 second lightmappings, then just turn everything back up when it's time to do the final render. _________________

I forgot to make this last time, and Afecelis's last post reminded me. It was hard finding the right angle to take a good screenshot to fit all the details in. I went through about 15 versions of the final shot I posted. Everytime, something I had needed to show was just out of the camera's view.

Yep, but we'll just review all entries on sunday and upcoming days so don't worry about the exact deadline too much. |

Hmm, I uploaded mine yesterday because you said BEFORE the 23rd. Meaning, the deadline was yesterday. (Not that I want to change anything.) _________________

You're quite right VD, it should have been 'on'! And even 'on' is a relative phrase. If you want to change anything at all, feel free to do so. Let's just say the deadline is this weekend. |

Superb tips as usual! Thnx VD. I shall try them out, not for this contest (too late)but just for gaining the experience |
