Does anyone know a small free polygon reduction program I can use on my statue?

And I know my placeholder textures suck. Laughing

maybe this on works?

http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Video_and_Animation_Tools/VizUp_Download.html

i tried it and it works perfect Smile it imports obj. so just export in deled to obj. and then import it.

when you are in the program click on the red round thing next to save as.
then it will calculate and when it's finished you can lower the % button and then it will reduce. I think it works great Very Happy

A long winded way but free Very Happy is-

1. Export as .obj using plugin.
2. Open in Anim8or ( http://www.anim8or.com/main/index.html ).
3. Save as AN8 file.
4. Open with Terranim8or. http://www.biederman.net/leslie/terranim8or/terranim8or.htm).
5. Select then build> simplify mesh, set settings how much you want ( there is no undo so you have to reload if comes out no good).
6. Save and then open in Anim8or.
7. Object>export as obj.
8. At last import back into Deled through plugins.
You may have to reassign textures as they will probably get lost, and dont worry about scales in other progs as it will end up correct again when in deled.
Hope this helps and admins don't mind me mentioning others.
Maybesome other prog that could do but i don't know .

blender. Import your statue mesh as 3ds or obj and use the poly reducer tool. You can then export again to something Deled can use. The only problem is that I know how much you don't like blender, hehehehe Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

here's a quick test VD:
good ol' Buddha with more that 32k verts:

reduced to 8k verts with blenders polyreduce tool:

with a good bumpy texture it should compensate the difference.

ps. In case you want, you could email me the file and I'll reduce it for you Wink

Yeah I'll do that.

I'll hand deliver it to. It will take me less time then to find the reducer button! I won't use a bump map or anything, I actually want it to look rough.

Thanks afecelis. I think it's still too high polygon though, I'll try maybe using just the hands. There are more polygons in the 50% reduced version than I usually allow in 2 of my Blockburner backgrounds. Confused

Sad Sad Sad awwwwwwhhhhhh!
too bad, but anything lower than that (and even the one with 50% reduced) totally destroyed the fingers. It's around 1110 verts now. I'm "PMing" you one more with 575 verts but fingers turned into wires.
