Spider
First creare a sphere.

Copy & scale the body.

Select the polys for the legs.

Extrude holding the Ctrl boutton down (enabling you to exrtude in any direction ).

Same with the head. Extrude holding the Ctrl boutton down (enabling you to exrtude in any direction ).

There you go a VERY simple spider Very Happy

Finished him of with some eyes(spheres) & teeth.

Hope this helps you out

Dave

Here is mine Very Happy
What I did was basically create a cylinder for the body, extrude the top, resize the new polygon (make it smaller) and extrude again. When you reach the end of the body, you can select all the vertices of the tiny polygon thats left and weld them. So the body is basically this. Then, I made the legs, which were a cylinder again, extruded and rotated the vertices a bit for the feet and bent them to a spider leg. I moved the leg to the right position and copied it 3 times, moving the leg to the right position of that side. Then, I copied the entire 4 legs of the one side and mirrored them to get the other (merged it first). The eyes should be clear, just some spheres. The teeth (are those teeth?) are made similar to the legs.

Shocked Did I mention I absolutely do NOT like spiders AT ALL? I even fear looking at the creatures in this here thread! Shocked

Having said that, do carry on. Wink Mr. Fletcher, do you have a closeup picture of that spider in the 3D view we could use for our gallery?

Fletcher's spider > *

It looks like a spider.

It's in proper proportion.

It doesn't have sloppy intersections of geometry colliding with each other all over the place in the body.

It has an even / clean polygon distribution.

Since everybody is having a go at creating spiders these days, I decided to wait a bit before choosing the best one for the gallery... (hinthint Wink)...

select your object with shift and then in the right top you see the 3 buttons:
move - scale -rotate, now select scale and move your mouse over 1 of the 2d views and you will see that it will change in size

(* you must hold your left mouse button when moving in the 2d view)

you can also take a look in the tutorial section where you will find everything to start with DeleD. http://www.delgine.com/index.php?filename=deled_tutorials

You probably want to scale your objects and keep their ratio. For this, hold CTRL while scaling.

You can extrude polygons by selecting the Extrude command in Polygon mode and dragging the mouse in a 2D view. Be sure to have a few polygons selected first, of course, by using shift+(ctrl+)leftmouse and clicking on polygons in either 2D or 3D views.

Oh and thanks for the compliments! Smile

GameDev.net is the worst forum on the internet to ask for help, or talk about developing games.

yes it can only extrude sideways, but you can do more extrude's and than make it curved by moving the vertex's.

maybe a good future request ( extrude with curve )
