i have a fairly detailed level I created in 3dws (45000polys, 90000verts), and I am getting an error saying

and that is after dividing it in half once. How many times do I have to divide the level to get it in here. Currently the .x file is 11.2MB and the .obj file is 8MB. Thanks[/img]

Wow, that's a rather large .X file you got there! Shocked I must admit that we never tested the X importer with that amount of data. I'd like to give loading it a try myself, with both the .X and .OBJ files. I will probably encounter the same issue as you did and I can then fix the problem at hand. So if you don't mind, please send me those files to my regular emailaddress (jeroen _at_ delgine.com). They will be used for testing purposes only. Thank you.

I have been doing a little testing with this file and the new (to be released) DirectX X Import plugin. After making some modifications to the new importer, I can now report that the new importer is able to read the 16MB .X file you sent me. Smile It still takes pretty much time to load though, I think it's about 1.5 to 2 minutes on my machine.

If all goes well, DeleD 1.6 including all new plugins will be released this month.

Thanks Very Happy . 1-2 minutes is understandable for files that size.

I have played with 3dws studio myself and ironically it was importing from 3dws that showed me that 3dws studio's exports are badly bugged Sad .
Which is now why I no longer use 3dws and now use deled for any world building.
Deled I found has a bit more of a learning curve compared to 3dws, But its exports work as they should.

The main problem with 3dws studio's exports is the very fact that in order to properly export YOU MUST export your scenes with a Lightmap generated by 3dws. Sooo on that note I found that further light mapping does not work using other programs and if you import an x from 3dws without a lightmap,, all the textures show only one colour representing the particullar shade of that texture.

And even if you tried to say save that same file once again to x but using another program such as Deled it still does not change anything.

I've tried just about everything with 3dws's exports and not once come up with anything. Now Cshop on the other hand works just fine with deled's csm import.

(Just about 5 minutes before answering this post I have just updated to the newest version of Deled and reinstalled 3dws and ran an export import test to see if bug is still there and Yes it is still there)
