Im only a new user but something I would like that I haven't seen in pretty much any other map editor is Arc rotate.
I use it in 3d max to quickly rotate around a model by holding "alt" and the "middle mouse button" and simply dragging the mouse.

The way I see it working in Deled is that it rotates around the center of the brush you have selected if you have one selected.
If you have nothing selected it rotates around the origin(0,0,0).

This would really speed up my workflow considerably as it has done in 3d max. Strafing using the arrow keys is a chore, so is rotating to the camera to just move to the side and away from an object only to have to rotate again to view the object from the new position.

Deled is a great application already ..concise, not to jargonified, great "snap".
But if it had arc rotate I would love it so much more.

Another request is that all shortcuts be included in one section in the help file! You have a good portion but you dont have them all ..(i.e ctrl-shift-f = fit to face). Personally I look up shortcuts near the start as its the most straightforward way for me to figure out what an artistic application does.

Anyway this is just a wishlist, im pretty damn happy either way.

Now that I look more closely it actually doesnt rotate around the origin when nothing is selected it rotates around the spot on the ground that the center of the camera intersects, and updates this spot everytime you select arc rotate.

You also have pan in every view but the 3d view using the "mousewheel click + drag". Instead you have 2 zoom versions in the 3d view, smooth and interval. Its even listed wrongly in the help file under Shortcut Keys (2D View) : "Mousewheel click + drag Zoom in/out smoothly". Personally I'd prefer pan instead of 2 zooms.

I will shutup now...

Welcome to the forums!

Do you mean something like this?

And yes, those shortcuts need to be updated.

I understand him like he wants rotating the camera around an object, which I also would very like to see. Currently, the camera rotates "around" the camera position it's like you take the position of your head and turn your head, the position remains the same. That's pretty much what the camera does. When you work on an object in real life, you would turn the object but that would mess up the scene and the object itself so here you would circle the camera around the object.

Hey Vijchti!

No I mean camera rotation not object rotation. Should of specified now that I re-read my last post. I think mr.Fletcher gets the idea.

Its a way of rotating the camera in the 3d/perspective view.
The camera uses a point in space and rotates around it.
Either the origin or the center of an object.

Ah, now I know what you mean. I suppose that was never implemented because DeleD is geared towards level creation, so there wasn't much of a pressing need to rotate around a single object.

Although, I'll occasionally wish for that kind of functionality when I'm constructing complicated objects, so you get my support.

Ctrl + Right Mouse Wink

@Vijchti:

Thanks a million. That makes things so much easier!
Yet again another reason to update the shortcuts...

How did you find that out by the way? ...

I didn't see the list of shortcuts way back when I first began messing around with DeleD. Not content to sit and wonder what they were, I tested out common combinations and found the key that enables panning. Until now, I haven't used it a single time. Very Happy

You found it by chance! ...I find that unbelievable.

Different folks work different ways i suppose. I use it all the time when modeling, I was actually using it before I knew of this shortcut by pressing the left and right arrow keys but that involves moving my arm everytime I want to pan which despite what you might think slows me down considerable.

You dont happen to have a list of all these shortcuts?
or at least some of them.

It wasn't quite chance. The right mouse key is bound to moving the camera and the only other keys I would use in combination with it would be Shift, Ctrl, or Alt (anything else would be extremely unlikely).

Unfortunately I don't.
