|
|
If I buy PRO, can I put 3DS files in the world without everything lagging in the world. What I mean does PRO support more 3D objects in the world without the screen slowing down when you view them. When I put 3D objects in the world that has a lot of polygons, the screen slows down pretty good. Does PRO let you view more 3D objects with a lot of polygons in them.
Any help would be nice.
Thanks,

There is no difference in the speed of rendering the scene between the LITE and the PRO version. But you have to know that DeleD is designed as a low oly modeling program which means that it's not that suitable for many polygons, such as 20.000 and more. If it still runs on your machine, you're lucky. But you can speed up things by, for example, turning on CULLing, hiding complex objects you don't need to see or rendering the scene without lightmaps/textures (switch to Texture/Solid Mode) _________________ Behold! Is Delgine Ever going to make a high polygon 3D editor? When they do, I will buy me a copy right away........... _________________ G4G |

Every editor slows down when you have tons of polygons in it. If you want faster scene refreshes
1) Buy a better video card / CPU
2) Stop putting tons of highpoly objects in your levels. Real games insert those as instanced meshes. The level geometry itself is a set of low detail surfaces. _________________

Will a game engine render these high poly 3D objects very slow. I got DarkGDK.NET kit. I haven't tested it out yet, but I haven't got the skills to test the system out yet.[/quote]A game renderer will be a bit more optimized, with spatial partitioning, and vertex arrays, and such. Your Mileage Will Vary... _________________ G4G |

Hi CrystalClear, welcome to these forums!
Like others said above, currently DeleD is not geared towards high-poly modeling. This is something we will work on, but up to now it hasn't got much priority, as anything that seriously slows down DeleD usually slows down a realtime final rendering engine too much as well.
My advice would be to first figure out what polycounts (for a single object) will run fine in DarkGDK.net on your target specification. If that number is vastly greater than the amount of polygons you can still work with comfortably in DeleD on your development machine, please throw us the numbers, and we'll see what we can do.
To our knowledge, DeleD's rendering performance is not an actual problem for most of our users. As soon as it becomes one, we better start working on it. |

I edited this post instead of replying to it. I hate that about mod access, the buttons are different, and you hit the wrong one because the other button is there, and it's habbit lol. _________________
