We thought you might want to take a look at some of the things we're working on for DeleD 1.8. Check out the following images:
Gizmo: move selected items in 3D views by clicking on a specific part of the gizmo and dragging the mouse. The appearance of the gizmo will probably change for the final release but this picture gives a good hint about how things will work.
Insert Vertex: insert a vertex by simply clicking on an edge in 3D views. This is much faster than using, for example, the Edge split tool.
Do note that we do not have a release date (or even an estimation) for DeleD 1.8 yet. We'll keep you posted here. |

This looks great. I to prefer doing a lot of modeling in 3d view so this going to be a great speed up for me |

Give me an example of what you can actually do with insert vertex? _________________

To me it looks in effect to be a face cut tool, as you could click on edges where you want then connect and you have cut the face exactly where you want in the 3dview. I know you can do this with split edge but as Jeroen says it will be a lot faster and easier than doing that way, and then repositioning vertex on edge where you want it to be. Especialy if edge does not line up with a major axis and you wish to keep edge still straight. |

How about working ambient light?
Tiny light objects.
Windows that stay put, and don't get put at random sizes at startup, and plugin windows that don't maximize because you maximized one of your views some time in the last 3 hours. _________________

Nice tools (they can accelerate the modelling process a lot, specially Gizmo) . Btw, I thought of an extrude implementation that could be useful (at least for me): maybe an axis-restriccion extruding (so polygon's ubication doesn't affect the extruding direction). Like, for example, when you've got an sphere and you want to extrude one of its polys which isn't aligned to any axis, you can only do this manually, and after you have extruded it. It's only a suggestion, but no idea if you're interested in so. Hope you have understood me |

If you hold down CTRL while moving the extruded polygon, you can move it freely. Axis restriction should also work on that. Let me know if that is what you mean. |

I like the gizmo!
How about shader materials?
A lot more important to support normal maps and gloss maps than animation, in my opinion. |
