forgive the crudness of this model but due to my computer/ game engine, I have to go low poly.

the above model was created in blender(I havent got the hang of modeling in deled yet, but Im working on it!!!!!) I imported the obj file, and placed 2 textured on it, one at a time, one for the foilage, and one for the bark. Is there a way I could have just used one texture image that had both images(the bark, and the foilage) and placed it on the whole tree?! Im about to attempt to make a very simple human model for a game and the one texture for the whole model thing would be great!

If your using obj files, look up a program called lithunwrap. it might be useful in skinning your tree for now. I used Wings3D and Lithunwrap together to model and texture a few simple objects.

and if lithunwrap is too complicated then try UVmapper, it's nowhere near as good as lithunwrap, but its easy to use.

DeleD does not support advanced UV mapping yet: we'll work on that after releasing 1.0 PRO somewhere this month! Indeed the programs mentioned do a good job so give them a try. Smile

where can I get this? Smile Mapping some of my models has been a pain, and lith is very hard to use. I need to do some cleaver mapping with some bevelled blocks, and I definately not looking forward to it.

Actually, this particular model is simple enough to do it with DeleD alone. Simply draw the tree-texture in fotoshop, fire up DeleD, apply it to the tree, go into face mode and scale/move until it looks right Smile

I don't think it'll work in DeleD right now because williac wants to have both textures into one file so simple scaling and moving probably won't do. He'll need more advanced UV techniques which we will provide in the future. Smile

Like I said,

Quote:
Simply draw the tree-texture in photoshop
. With tree texture I mean tree-and-trunk-in-one-bmp. Draw some trunk-log-woody-looking stuff on the bottom of the bmp, draw fluffy-green-piny-stuff on the top. Replace "photoshop" by any other product you fancy.

Now fire up DeleD, apply the texture. For the trunk poly, scale and move the trunky parts in view. For the pine-needly-prickly-part, move the trunky parts out of sight. It won't be brilliant, but it is definitely possible. Or so I think, I might be missing something? Smile

(yes, I should be programming, so come and make me)
(jeroen is waiting for my latest fixes in the 0.91 DeleD Wink )

Oh yes, it is possible, I just don't think that with the current move and scale functions the results would be good enough. So until DeleD has proper UV routines, I'm recommending the apps mentioned. Smile

Now go back to programming, bad PJ, you bad! Laughing

Well the plan was that you'd get the demo yesterday, that kind of failed, so I'll work on it more seriously after my Physics exam on wednesday, but I'll also have to revise for stats on the 18th. But in the delay I'll add some other cool stuff, you might even be able to use the lader.
