It seems a little odd, that you cant show textured, lightmapped etc in the viewports side, top and front... only perspective.
is this something that may be added in future releases - or have i missed something? |

I think the problem if that if the polygons in the 2D views would be filled with a texture or a color, then the polygons underneath would be occluded, thus making you see only the polygons on the very top! _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

That would give you a modelling headache ...
As Mr. Fletcher said, front or back faces couldn't be seen (the same with sides and top polygons) . |

It could be useful, only in certain cases (ie when you're texturing). 3DS has an option to render like this in those windows, so it has to be useful for something right? Obviously not as a default |

Milkshape also has this, but I hardly ever used it. _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

i thought it was the norm to have this feature in a 3d modelling package - considering nearly Every other modelling package has this ability.
and i needed to use it. its has nothing to do with being a modelling headache. just answers like that are a headache thankyou. |

What would be cool would be a semi-transparent view, where all polys are drawn with 25% opacity, and correctly sorted back-to-front. In isometric view, that would rock! (but not as much as a better plug-in API or hierarchical grouping would rock) |

Or Normals. The most basic thing in 3D graphics. _________________

@Jwatte & Daaark: you've made your point.
Semi-transparent view is cool indeed! |

This is fast becoming like that red lobster commercial guy saying "I want it all!"
I'd also like a plugin to DeleD that connects directly to my brain so I can build models by just using my imagination! |

this sort of thing is something like what i was wanting to do.
it seems stupid to export a map/model into a different modeller to get a shot/render of something in a side/top view. |

All you have to do is move the camera in the rendered view to get a side or top view, or inside view, or any other view. That's what I do and I'm extremely lazy. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.
