Things I would rather have than animation support:
- a better plug-in API
- a proper COLLADA exporter
- the ability to place game-engine-specific entities on maps (with a property editor)
- the ability to group things into hierarchy
- the ability to turn entire groups/hierarchies into a prefab
- more debugging of the CSG operators
- shader material support |

these don't look like those BIG things that will make 2.0 sizzle, and deffinately not better than animation in my opinion... but i also respect yours.
but i have to agree that shader material support and the ability to place game-engine-specific entities on maps would be cool
EDIT: a great release needs something that everyone could use, and a collada exporter isn't. |

don t forget to replace the views with splitter windows at least optionally
the blue bars take up too much screen space |

Ok, important notice to everyone:
2.0 will not be the last version of DeleD ever to be released... nor will it be the first to come.
To us, 2.0 is a very important release, and we decided on a fixed subset of the functionality that will be included, and that is what we announced. Larger milestones that are important to use, and thus are engraved in solid stone... so to speak.
But if you have a need for [...] (<- fill in your own desired feature), there is no saying it won't be included in 2.0 ... or in 2.1 ... or in 1.9 for that matter.
Requesting a feature for a specific version is... well, rather pointless. It's simply not how we work. We gather requests from users, prioritize, and plan releases. If you need something now, just specify it's urgent, and if we agree on that (because it's urgent to everyone) we give it a higher priority and put it in an upcoming release. |

Yes, I know. I was just voicing the opinion that work spent on animation is likely going to take away from the appeal of DeleD. I already have Milkshape (which is cheaper than DeleD) for animation -- and it supports soft skinning, too. (I also have Max and Maya at work, but that's a different category I think ;-)
Make DeleD be the best static modeler with the easiest to use interface. That's your strength. That's what you can sell, at a higher cost than Milkshape. If you add animation, you'll just be compared to Milkshape (and found lacking), and the price difference will be more obvious.
The features I suggest, however, all dovetail with the view of DeleD as the easiest to use, best static modeler. |

Give DeleD a year and it will be superior to Milkshape concerning animation. It has long been concerning modeling. Milkshape's functionality is very limited, a large amount of features comes from plugins, what Milkshape itself offers is mere vertex/polygon editing (which DeleD can do better yet), skinning (DeleD has to improve here, as i've been saying for a long time) and animation, which is rather spartanic, too. If this would be implemented and constantly be worked on, I think DeleD will soon be much more comfortable to use than Milkshape ever was.
//edit
I see this as a long time goal, though. I surely would appreciate the implementation of other features too before animation, like the ones you suggested. They all seem to be rather minor upgrades too (except hierarchy). _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

DeleD 2.0 is going to rock. No matter what.
Oh, and milkshape is only good for exporting to dts. Aside from that, it sucks. (my opinion)
Boned animation? sure. I could use that. (it'll take me another 5 years to figure it out tho) _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

quite frankly why would you pay for milkshape when there s blender available for free
and blender supports vertex painting (weights/colors...)
and its really easy to use although the layout is somewhat complicated for beginners |
