I think it isn't a bad idea to add subdomains like:
http://wiki.delgine.com
http://forum.delgine.com
...to link back on other websites instead of delgine.com/wiki - and it's for the webmasters easier to see the referrers, actually it shows the default PLESK page.
Just a tought. |

Great idea, but I'm still struggling a bit with the details. Kinda new to subdomain rewrites, will read into it.
By 'referrer-friendly', you mean friendly to other sites because they can easily identiy the traffic coming from forum.delgine.com/blablabla, right?
Having http://forum.delgine.com redirect to the forum pages should be easy, but you'd probably want the address in the address bar to remain subdomain.delgine.com/stuff, right? Wouldn't that kinda kill our current google-fu? (the current forum pages rank pretty nicely inside google).
p.s. Just learned php2bb displays triple x into 'nothing'. Funny, that. |

For both sides, you can see from where the users come (have they clicked links on google, gamedev.net etc...) and as you said they *could* monitor the traffic exchange which come from delgine.com and other sites - but the most sites only monitoring advertising traffic because its more profitable, i mean monitoring uses system resources, load-balancing. (so i don't think that sites like gamedev.net actively monitoring such 'smaller' things. - google or reddit.com does)

That is correct, you can even referer from: forum.delgine.com to delgine.com/forum to gain a little bit more higher rankings because theres more traffic. You can visit alexa.com to learn more about this and even compare your website with others in traffic exchange. |
