Downloaded. That is one awesome tower. I don't know where I can use it, but it will most definately have your name on it if I do. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

well, after such posts, i feel quite underskilled.
wip, no texture (i think about wow-ish like, or elementrix-like textures), etc.

Looks good i think.
But in the first pic the roof seems to be a bit ugly. _________________ ♥♦♣♠♥♦♣♠♥♦♣♠♥♦♣♠♥♦♣♠♥♦♣♠♥♦♣♠♥♦♣♠ |

I agree with Andreas. Looks good, but the roof looks askew in the first pic. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

the "twisted" aspect was totally intended. Though, the body of the tower didnt reflected that, which leads to your "dammit, that roof is weird" comments . I tried to correct that in the work i've done in the meantime.
(Dont pay attention to the floating windows. I have to glue them to the body, and i just forgot to do it before taking screenshot )
hope this makes more sense now, and that the general aspect looks good. |

Looks neat, waiting for the textures
One note tough: Pretty small grid for such a huge model. |

Very nice models, people!
@Ravine: I see you're pushing objects into eachother, aren't you? I would advice using the CSG Union + Optimize some more, so you will end up with a single, clean object. |

Ravine, You are correct. Now the tower looks great and the roof makes since. Looking good.

Happy to see it makes sense now. And happy to see the positive reactions. I'm now more motivated to finish it. My main inspiration was the hidden child of a deformed souvenir of a WoW tower, and the Merlin's Tower of the Disney's The Sword in The Stone movie. (cant find any picture, but that typical cartoon tower, twisted, totally not straight )
@Jeroen : i'd really like to. Really. I'm a big fan of Deled, but its Union CSG op does not like me.
Here 2 screens to show that.
my window mesh not visible faces have been deleted and i think that leads to that problem. |

I normally strive for sci-fi, but I feel like doing some medieval doodads...here's a WIP, first part of a few:
I saw a pic of something like that off of google and thought it would be interesting to model it....there was a facade right below where the turret comes out on the top, but that's take some more time than the quick job this one too .
I like to expand it...make it part of a gate system (with a drawbridge), or make this just a causeway between the main gate/land, or duplicate the doodads on the front on each side as a free standing tower (the other sides are a bit too boxy...but I just modeled what I saw)...and of course some walls .
There's an inside, not done yet...just cut out. Roughly 380 polys |
