Thx
I made the rest of the set ( had to make the pieces!! ) I made the chessboard with DeleD and the textures with photoshop, but I used Anim8or to get the shape of my chess pieces using a lathe editor. Which brings me to a point, would it be to difficult or non-compatiable ( i doubt, but could be ) to integrate a lathe editor in DeleD??
heres some screens

You could have created those same peices by continually extruding the top of a cylinder. |

Ya, you could do that. It would take awhile though =/
but a good lathe editor is much faster for complex objects. |

It's pretty much the same thing. You need a spline to lathe, which in the end is drawing the same shape. Also, there is a lot of guess work with lathing, and after you finally do the lathe, things sometimes don't look like you thought they would.
Not that lathing is a bad idea. Just saying It can be done with the existing functionality. |

I see what your saying The lathe thing was just an idea, dont get me wrong, I'm just now discovering what DeleD can do, and so far I'm loving it.
Also, in my experiences with lathe editors and such, I find them to be a great time saver, if you know how to use them properly.
check out this chair I was working on today with DeleD!

I like it as well, furniture is cool (nice counterbalance for all the army/arms/guns stuff that gets modeled), and this chair looks great!
Lathe editor is a cool idea, I'll put it on the todo list. Just one question, is 'Lathe editor' the standard name for this functionality? I have this nagging feeling in the back of my head that there is a different word for it, and that 'Lathe' is the modeler specific marketing term. |

Yes, lathe is very cool and it has been on my list for quite a while now. It will be part of the low-poly routines but alas, I can't say when we'll implement it. Rest assured, it is such a cool feature to have, it will be part of DeleD. |

Lathe is used all over the place. It's the standard term used for taking a spline outline and making a round shape. |
