Hello,

Question about the material editor; Easy to use and all that but its only possible to drag one texture at a time into your Deled Categories. This is certainly ok if you have like 10-20 textures. Problem is i have like 800 in each map. Only solution i can come up with right now is to split those maps into more maps containing fewer textures for slightly more control. That is however alot of work and its still a hellish to add them all ;P

do you want to use all those texture's in one scene Shocked ?

you can just drag all the texture's in the windows maps towarts the deled/texture maps. In the material editor you can drag one texture at a time, but why would you want to use 800mb of texture's in one scene?

(if you mean that loading the categories takes a long time with a large amount of textures, then yes the only solution is to make more maps)

Do you know how many 64*64 textures in DXT1 you can fit on a high end 640mb card Wink
Jokes aside.
No i probebly wont be using 800 textures in a single scene or level/map. The reason i want this many is becase its handy to have your texture libary at hand. This way i can try numerous of diffrent textures to see how they look and feel before i decide on one.

Loading times are not my major concern thats something i can live with, what bothers me is the fact you can only drag a single texture at a time. No way around this i guess?

I will probebly make some more maps and categorise my textures a bit better.

If that is the case, it's easier to make materials and then swap the textures in those materials as needed, and not have 800 textures loaded in your sidebar.

eg: grass.
You make a material called grass and use whatever. Then when you want to see your other grass options, you slide a new grass texture into layer 1 of the grass material, and it changes instantly.

I used to edit levels in VTM:R with 800 or more textures loaded up, took forever, especially when you needed a texture that was in a different library of 800 textures... Laughing

I've posted a long time ago the same thing about having so much Textures. If you have PRO (or doing it on the default texture libary) you can write a batch which stores all image-filenames into your *.dml file. Thats the only possible way. But beware, the loading times can be extreme long (deactivating the 3d ball and specular reflection increases the speed a bit.)
