|
|
Hi everyone,
At the start of this summer Delgine.com will run another DeleD modeling competition. A big compo this time, with a bit more substantial prizes than we had before. The competition will run for about 2 months straight and the three winning entries will get a nice lump sum of cash (PayPal) money, and we'll all have a blast discussing the beauty-shots.... so far the unofficial and kinda uninspired (sorry, it's hot over here!) pre-announcement (official announcement will follow soon), what we need now is a theme/topic!
Suggestions please...

Futuristic cities.
Oh, and hopefully there'll be more than 4 participants this time and you will actually be able to make some advertisement for DeleD. _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

'Prizes'
More substantial prices implies that you are charging for entry! _________________

Hmmmm...I'd say a complete house?....It has to do with cities...but modelling a full house (arquitectural or not [toony]) would be cool _________________

imo,
let people come up with their own Ideas, so take a general theme like "future" or "medieval" (It could be a medieval farmer or even a house or ship, so you will get some more diversity then like only house's or only rooms)
or here is a list of things that came in my head:
- African landscape
- japanese things?
- middle east type of stuff (destroyed city? irak war? war?)
- stone age
- castle
- your dream world as you imagine it
- important events in history (columbus discoviring america - 9/11 etc.)
- model your own head or yourself completely.
- mines/caves
- model famous scenes from movies
- cars (future cars/nowadays cars/fantasy cars)
- the 7 worldwonders
- robots/machines
- ships (large)
ok I think that's enough.

just make a lot of advertising over the web, and when amazing scene's come out of it it will also work as a advertisement, but yes the more people participating the better. _________________ Chickens RULE | www.elementrix.nl

Why not open ended? Let people do their best work. Some people don't work well in certain areas and wouldn't be able to make as nice of an entry as they could if they could do their own thing. _________________

Some people might have a hard time to come up with something, but I think it's a great idea. You might also attract more people because no one will "not" like the theme _________________ Chickens RULE | www.elementrix.nl |

Thanks everyone! (and thanks Daaark for pointing out that darn typo) Keep the suggestions coming, and also tell us what you think of the suggestions other people made. We will not announce the final topic until the competition starts, of course.

We considered that, but a lot of people feel uncomfortable working without a fixed theme or similar set of restrictions. Plus a theme helps for inspiration. To prevent the topic becoming too much of a lock-out for those who do not like it, we could 'borrow' from GameDev's 4 element compo, where you are presented with X elements of which you only have to include Y (<X) in your scene. |

The topic "your dream world" could be anything, but I think most people can come up with a scene that shows their dreamworld? so you would have some kind of a theme, but it could still be alot.
EDIT: I don't think medieval is a good theme, as it's already done ALOT, we need something "new" _________________ Chickens RULE | www.elementrix.nl |

...but medieval is by far my favorite and thats probably the only thing I'd do.... why don't we use some diversity for medieval though? Like create some medieval cave with a monster |
