Hi my name is Branden, and i've just started making maps using this program and i'm liking it's ease of use, i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to make your levels Dark Basic ready, like how would you get them to work with Dark Basic? because me and a friend of mine have been making a First-Person shooter, hes got almost all of the games coding done the only thing thats missing is levels, if anyone could tell me how to make these important features DB ready basically what we want to do is take the creations from the Delgine Builder that i make and get them compatible with Dark Basic how would i do that?.
Thanks
-Branden

DeleD is already DB compatable, although you may have a few problems if your using DBC, but any questions just ask.
Well I say DeleD is compatable with DB, what I mean is the .x files that DeleD exports are DB compatable. Although materials won't work correctly and as a result of that neither will lightmaps. |

Hey thanks for the reply, so basically this program is already compatible with the regular Dark Basic, but how would i save my levels as .x files? it's not on the file type list, so theres going to be limits i take it, but you should be able to throw some textures into level using DB's texture loading program correct? |

Saving program as .X files is done using File -> Export -> DirectX .X file from the DeleD menu. It is not in the File->Save 'file list' because .X is not the native DeleD format, thus it is an export.
As far as textures go, the non-pro version of Darkbasic doesn't do jpg's. As long as you use bmp's you'll be fine. Most of the default DeleD textures are however jpg's, so you'll either have to use your own or convert them to .bmp (either before or after exporting the models). |
