A model I am currently working on. This has not been lightmaped as yet and the pics below rely on
textures and dynamic lighting. I have focused on textures in this model, with particular note to
the reflective textures that have the env reflected in them. Screenshots are from Deled Pro.
Regards Brian

It is, indeed!... I really like the attention to detail, and I think you are a brave man to attempt to hand-model reflections like that. It's real hard to get those to look 'not wrong' to the human eye, as it tends to be rather picky to reflections not moving when the eye moves. |

The train and ceiling look fantastic. Will this reflection thing still "work" (for the eye) when you lightmap the scene? _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

Lack of ambient is really going to hurt the realistic lighting of this scene. Too many lights on the ceiling and reflective surfaces. _________________

maby moddeling the lamps on the ceiling will make it even better and it isn't hard to do.
Great work btw. |

I agree Paul. Looks good in a still, but immersive is another story. Have some ideas though that might make it work.

I have not started with the lightmaps yet, however, I think it may need a partial lightmap on some objects. The scene will always be bright and shadows minimal, thats why I placed so many fluros on the ceiling, one automatically expects the scene to be bright. If it does become an issue, I can always give the lights an ADD atribute. We will see when lightmapping starts. This also applies to Daaark's post.

I agree, if you look inside the train you will see that I have done just that, however, the models I build are all destined to become immersive environments and file size is very critical to frame rate. So where I can I use textures in place of 3D. In some cases textures work but in others you have to have a model.
Thanks for all of your comments, keep them coming. It really is good to be able to create such a scene in Deled. A credit to how far Deled has come. Kind regards Brian |

You are saying you want to use as less poly's as possible but you still use pretty much poly's in those metro chairs?
looks good though, I also tried to make fake reflections once _________________ Chickens RULE | www.elementrix.nl |

Hi elementrix. Yes, I am attempting to keep the poly count as low as possible, but sometimes you have to create more to get the result you want, like the seats in the train. It comes down to what you can get away with. Deled certainly offers the ability to create beautiful smooth curves, in my case I have to design for immersive env's. I believe that Deled will set the standard for immersive 3d environments on the web.
Also I like your work. Good moddeling and lightmapping.
Thanks for your comment. Kind regards brian |
