Hello!

1.
Could anyone explain the diffrence between group, union and merge?

The mapfile chapel.dxs consist of prefabs and cubes and works fine in DirextX wiever or my small engine code (DirectX export).
2.
Tell me the reason to group everything or union everything to one mesh unit?

/My small house looks fine

Grouping means the way DeleD handles object internally. When you group objects, you can select one of them and it selects the entire group, but they are still seperate objects, there's just a hierarchy in it. I don't think there's much else you can do with grouping yet though.
Merging will basically take all polygons from both object and store them in one new object, so once you've merged two objects, it's completely seen as one.
While the two above don't change the object's geometry, Union does. It will take two closed objects and treat them as two "sets" and join both and make a new object out of it, so where the two objects overlap, it will cut off and out those polygons that lie in the interior of one of the objects. For more information about Union and CSG; look here.

There is no reason, grouping will have no effects outisde of DeleD at all. Union your entire map will take a lot of time to start with, and when you load it into an engine, it might slow it down because some accelerating algorithms can't be applied if you only have one object.
However, some exporters might only work when you group things... i don't know about them. Just try it out and if it works without grouping or merging, you should just leave it as it is.

Thanks for the fast answer!

Have try to unioning everything after texturing all faces but it's not any good idea!!!
Every scale and move of all faces I have done become to some defaultstate.
And it's very much job to put everything goodlooking again.

I think I use your suggestion about skip unioning everything to one object
(for complex meshes).
Every prefab and avery cube (primitives) could be an own unit in the mesh.
Maybe only union prefabs...

A good rule of thumb to remember when using any of the csg operations...
It's better to make your mesh and do all csg operations before applying your texture. That just makes it easier on you.
Union only what needs to be one object.

Thanks!

About the version DeleD Pro. Maybe I should send this to Bug fixes but...

I'm still using 1.73 because 1.81 seems to have some bugs with views.
Tiled windows with no max/min or close!

What version do you use?

The most current one. If you've found some bugs, please don't hesitate to create a thread in the bugs section, it is appreciated!
