I've been asked by 2 members of our local City Councel to design a neighborhood park for a spot of land the city owns down the street from my house. I am designing this park on paper, but will use deled to model it for visualization purposes. I'll chronicle my progress here.

A few facts:

Lot size: 16 acres (approx.) -- 508 ft. wide by 1744 ft. long.

The park will contain 3 legal sized soccor fields. (football for those Europeans around here)

Small field = 75 ft. wide by 150 ft. long
Medium field = 150 ft. wide by 240 ft. long
Large field = 180 ft. wide by 300 ft. long

There will be trees, shrubs, flowers, a community building with snack bar, gazebo's with BBQs, Basketball court, and parking lot.

I started with the basic land Then got a super basic field layout.
This image shows the basic layout with text
This is the very back of the park as it is now. It shows the large field, player benches, shrubs behind players, drainage pond (required by code), and the bank of the river that flows behind the park.
This is a close in view of the player benches

This is the very beginning start of this project. There is lot wrong yet, but it's getting there. The important thing is that everything is (for the most part) to scale.
I will update this thread as I go along.

I don't know if I am going to keep the small field there, or move it opposite the medium field.

I've made a couple of changes.

This shows the rear of the park with some explinations as to size and what's what.
This is a view from the front looking to rear that I posted on my city forum. (am asking for ideas from my community)
This is a closeup of the front of the new community hall. It's complete with ecception of the roof and oops...made a window on the side where a doorway needs to be.

That grass texture is tiling horribly. The model is nice. Can't wait to see the whole thing finished.

Why not make it more interesting with hills and trees? it's so flat. Or does it have to be flat?

Daark, I know. I just used a few textures I already have to give city councel an idea of how it will look. Currently, the land is
not flat, and after walking the land today, I google earthed it. and found out that half the land isn't even useable
for anything eccept a nature area. (they won't let me backfill too much)
The useable land I will make flat just becouse it will be less expensive and easier to manage.
I'll keep you posted as I get it done. I plan to work on it more today.
Edit to add: It will have trees and bushes thruout. We have native Valley
Oak trees here and that's the type of tree I plan on using.

That's how it looked 6 years ago. Today it's all plowed. No green at all.
I plan on sodding the ground with new grass while the park is being built. Of course, there will be an inground sprinkler system as well.

I have the community hall in place.
Here is a closeup of the front of the community hall. (the roof is on. Yayy)
This is a side view of the hall.
I'll be taking a break, then working on the playground. (I'm afraid to work on the gazeebo. not really, but it's going to be tougher)

Ok, so I lied. The gazeebo's are in and it's starting to look like a park.

One last item for today that almost killed deled. It took an hour to merge and optimise.

The swing set. It's a little skewed and not tall enough, but I was afraid to modify it any further.
Closeup of the swings
Good night.

LOL no wonder. You modeled all those chain links, and perfectly round too! Those should have been textured onto a single quad.

I'm going to end up doing that. The way it is now is just unacceptable. I love the look tho. Laughing

Some updated images.

I started by remaking my swingset. It is now really low poly. The chains are transperant planes textured with an image from the real one I made. (ok, not really real. it was made in deled)
This image shows the whole park.
This is the large gazeebo from above.
Same gazeebo, but viewed from inside.

Now, on to making the picknick tables for the gazeebos and patio, then, it's off to making the parking lot. After that, I'm looking for ready made trees.

great work Trucker! Very Happy Interesting use of deled.
Careful with the soccer field you're locating across. All soccer fields must be oriented N/S so that no sun will hit the goal keeper directly. Wink

regards,
Alvaro
