Thought I'd share this. It's not a game yet, and those aren't DeleD models (although, they went through my DeleD -> Jmonkey pipeline in order to determine weapon points), but I thought this was rather cool to show off:

Not quite yet
There's still a lot of work to be done with the weapon/projectile system (this was merely a demoing of that, because it looked so dang cool!). When things start to stabilize, and I get a few other features (already mentioned) online, I'll be posting more...and most likely release something on webstart. Hopefully in time for the re-launch of pyrogames.net Although it would just be a release of game mechanics, and not so much a real "game".
And hopefully by then I can get more artwork from DeleD in there!
As for what I envision for the game...originally I was going for a Space Invaders 3D clone (sort of--the idea would be you start from an earth space station, and shoot up invaders until you get to the moon and then fight a mothership, and the high-level design outline has already been written for that). And then sometime after that, use that as a base for a RPG space game, where you can hyperspace around a small galaxy, visit worlds, forge an empire, trade goods, etc.
I think I'd like to lay groundwork for the latter idea and focus more on that, as by the time enough of the core features come online, the original idea wouldn't be all that difficult. If the "grand vision" never gets finished, I'll have at least something created/finished that I can show off.
Also...this is a direct offshoot off of the original project that we started on Multiverse (which is now on hold, although the Deled->MV pipeline is still invaluable ), meaning it's going to be taking place in the same setting/universe...as we got a good amount of storyline and concept art regarding that. |
