|
|
Hi here,
Like some of you may know, i have changed the Fantasy of Toon, to Fantasy of Thona, and made a complete new way of Style.
So this is what i made so far.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Name Project: Fantasy of Thona
Status: Early Development
Website: www.fot-online.110mb.com
-----------------------------------------------------------
Information:
I used RC Standard for this, GUE is from pro,
Im still learning a lot about RC, so i hope i can increase the details.
Screenshots:
The screenshots are made in the Beginners Town / Road.
The houses, fence, bridge are made in DeleD 3D.
-----------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------
( WIP, may reconize it as the pvp arena i made at Fantasy of Toon )
-----------------------------------------------------------
Tested the Party system here, its not done yet.
When you leave the party, the name doesnt go away in the party gui.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I have been working on a large city ( for the humans )
Its with the new enviorment for the humans, after they leave the forests.
its not tested ingame, but i made this at school in about 2 hours..
I didnt make lightmaps for it yet, maby later on this schoolday, as soon the teacher leaves the building again
-----------------------------------------------------------
So thats so far..
I know a large post, with lots of screenshots.
But i have been working on this from: 25 Nov. 2008 ??
Hope to have some comments soon ! |

I think I like the style better. You should check those houses and flatten the walls, looks like the normals are screwed up! _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

I really like the look 'n' feel of this project. The little houses with round rooftops + the very nice trees/plants combine beautifully. Keep it up - excellent work! _________________ Check out Figuro, our online 3D app! More powerful 3D tools for free. |

Im glad you all like it.
Well about the houses, the walls are flat, but because its made in RC Standard ( going to pro very soon ) the lighting makes it this way.
In pro you will not see it.
I added some colors to the air in-game. This way it looks more fantasy style. |

Man! This is looking awesome.
Can you tell a little more about the project? Do you do this alone? What programming language and engine do you use etc...
What other features do you want to implement and when do you expect it to be playable?
*edit: lolz.. nevermind... I see you have a nice website with plenty of information.
Keep up the good work. |

I didnt show you the ingame version. Than the roads look smaller.
The screenshots are not right anymore.
I already changed some things like the light, the textures of some of the houses, the road texture ect.....
But to show you anyway:
Zone Name: White Castle
Polys: ~10.000 ( excl. trees, props, ect. )
Hours to build: ~6 ( on school 5 of 6 )
Info: This city falls under the "large" towns. The Human White Castle is the first town/city when you come out of the Forests of Thona.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: This zone is still a WIP ! |

It all looks good from a distance, but if you are close to a house, you see that there's something wrong. Pay attention to the texturing, the wood beams (?) are wrong in most of the houses. Like, they go through windows and such. Same with the pavillon. Other than that, well done
You should also pay attention that you don't make the layout of the city so straight. Towns back in those times were built pretty arbitrary, there were no straight streets like that. That makes it look fairly artificial.
//edit
I really like your trees, they look great in there. _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

I see what you mean. I have been moving some textures here and there, and also updated some things to make it 'hopefully' better.
Update of the Town:
- Added new house textures to make it less repetitive
- Changed the road texture to make it more right looking.
- Added Signs to some of the buildings ( Blacksmith, Inn, Tarven, Private Detective )
- UV mistakes still needs to be done.
Total hours spend: ~9 hours
Info: Updated a lot, but still not done with the zone.

You need to stop splitting your geometry up into chunks like that. It looks horrible with the lighting. You have steps where each step is it's own model, instead of modeling a proper staircase, and then the lighting hits it, and causes all kinds of hell.
Your trees are too boxy, but the plates are round? You need a consistent level of detail here.
Your doors look to be 2 feet 2 short. Model in scale.
It's very nice though. You just need to work on the rough spots. _________________

Really nice level, I love it, you should need to work out those points that were mentioned before by the guys, (I was going to mention the rounded cups and plates myself xD), but apart from that, it gives me a really nice feeling when I see the pics, something like "Medieval city, sweet medieval city" (instead of home sweet home, if anyone didn't catch it )
Overall : Good work _________________

Stressless, this town is comming along nicely. Give yourself a pat on the back from me. The town reminds me of a game I have eather played, or seen. (old age just won't allow me to remember which one)
Looking good. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.
