I'm sorry you feel that way. But as I've said a couple of times before, I'm not going to debate our decision to implement animation again. We've made that choice, period. Over the last year, both PJ and I have had about a day effective programming time for DeleD a week (at most) and I think we're doing an OK job at implementing such new features and trying to fix existing bugs as well. Or in other words, we're doing what we can in the amount of time we have. You're entitled to your opinion but I really think you should accept things as they are now.
Bottom line: we're implementing animation and will solve the bugs you mentioned after that. I really hope you will accept that and move on. _________________ Check out Figuro, our online 3D app! More powerful 3D tools for free. |

If it's not clear: I have already moved on. I will not be paying to upgrade to 2.0. |

That's your choice and you're 100% allowed to make that choice. Just allow us to make ours. _________________ Check out Figuro, our online 3D app! More powerful 3D tools for free. |

Will there be any level editing improvements or will DeleD 2 more high-poly mesh modelling oriented? I use DeleD because of its outstanding level editing and csg features and will continue to do so. Anyway, im still with you... |

It's sad to hear you are leaving. DeleD is great for what it is. I own several different modeling apps, but always model in deled becouse it's so much simpler to use then the others. There are bugs in every app. With each upgrade of directX/OGL, and with each upgrade of deled, (or any app for that matter) there will be bug fixes and bugs made. The few bugs I've encountered, I've found ways to work around them. If my UV's get screwed up, I just reUV the object. It's not that difficult. (just tedious on large objects) I look forward to the next release. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Hmmm maybe I'm doing something wrong but I found trying UV map chars (not buildings etc) as good as impossible since there's no real unwrap functions.
I must say when I heard animation was being added it surprized me. I cant see how to UV map chars without good unwrapping...Of course maybe these are being added. |

We want DeleD to be a all-in-one modeling package with a focus on modeling content for games. DeleD 2.0 will feature basic animation, a secret new feature + technical improvements so its ready for future enhancements. DeleD 2.x (notice the .x) will go more towards high-poly modelling and improved level-editing capabilities.

Me neither. That's why DeleD 2.x will have better UV mapping features, with unwrapping being one of them. _________________ Check out Figuro, our online 3D app! More powerful 3D tools for free. |

you can UV anything in DeleD, you just need to spend some more time instead of pressing one lazy button! _________________ Chickens RULE | www.elementrix.nl |

Better UV tools do, and will help though.
I like the concept of an all-in-one tool, the argument has been made that other tools do it too, and are cheaper than DeleD. But I still found DeleD to be really good when I was looking for a good (and relatively cheap) modeler.
Can't wait for 2.0...and I hope the coming year brings a lot of good to the application! |

It doesn't matter how good you can UV map in DeleD, if common operations like CSG or Optimize will screw up the mapping you've already built.

True. However, when bugs have been known for years, and get in the way of actually using the app for its intended purpose by people trying to get a real project done (not just noodle around a bit), then those bugs become reasons to step back and take another path.
If Delgine wants a revenue stream from upgrading existing users, they will fix bugs that affect existing users before adding new checkbox features. If Delgine wants a revenue stream based on new customers who buy based on checkboxes, but don't actually stay very long, then adding checkbox features instead of fixing bugs is the way to go. It's pretty clear to me which way DeleD is going.
If DeleD 2.x actually has working CSG, simplification, and light mapping without leaks, then I might upgrade at that point. Unfortunately, the free trial doesn't really let you test out the bug fixes to CSG, though. |

You make it seem as if we don't fix any bugs before adding new features. This isn't true, as you can see from each and every 1.x release post on this very forum. Just because we haven't addressed all issues yet, doesn't mean we don't address issues. Based on existing bug reports, we just think the application is stable enough for us to implement the next big features.
I have said it many times before: we choose to add animation (+ a secret feature) in 2008 because many people want it to be part of DeleD. Any existing flaw (whether it is in workflow or a real bug) will be handled after that, just like we handled bugs before adding animation.
It's too bad you can't accept the decisions we've made. You've made your point over and over again and so have we. It's really useless continuing this conversation because it's just a repetition of things already said, so I will close the topic now. _________________ Check out Figuro, our online 3D app!
