Im moving on to make a skyscraper preferably on the lower poly side.

What i need is some information on how deatailed i should make it, and what sort of shape would be appropriate (im not after a normal box)

im looking for a blocky bottom but as it gets near the top i need to add some creativity on it, its a modern building with some flowing at the roof.

thanks for any help provided..

EDIT1 - 26/01/09 12:42AM: Ill be posting my progrees on this main post so that new readers dont have to scroll through all the posts that may or may not appear.

I have decided not to do any concept images as i realised im not good at drawing anymore, instead i came up with an evil theme and modelled a sprire for my building.

Take a look!

if there are any requests for a prefab i will provide one.

Well, 1) depends on what you need it for, if you only do it for the modelling, you can basically add endless details. If it's for a game and you're a GTA like guy, walking around in the streets, you won't see much of the top, so then make the top less detailed.
2) depends on what you want it to look like, of course. There's nothing wrong with starting off a simple box, too.

The good thing is, things like skyscrapers grow pretty fast without the need of many polygons, so you have that very large model in your scene and it has just a few hundred polygons. So you can add many details, if you can think of some.

I personally don't like to model skyscrapers though, because you need a pretty good sense of scale, the shape is boring (unless you design it differently) and you don't get to make a good (image) shot of it, because of the extreme height.
A bunch of skyscrapers glued together to a city would be interesting, though.

Anyway, good luck!

i may have it just as an 8 story building, but im after something that is overwhelming from the bottom and can be editable for later use so that i can set up a link to an interior, not actually put the interior in there but make it look like it has an interior and then modelk the interior elsewhere.

I will see what i can come up with, thenks for the touch on things..

EDIT: I have decided on an evil theme and have come up with a basic concept and have no need for drawings..

heres a quick spire model i made, if anyone wants the prefab ill upload it if you want...

nice geometry but i think its useless what fletcher said `'you dont look at it cuz its at the top of the building'' and its a waste of polys
