I paused a little while using DeleD, and update to 2.1 - and many editig keys has changed. Why this ? Grid-size no longer numbers 1-5, editing-modes no longer E,V,O and P. Can i set it back to the old ones ?
Confused

By request the grid can be changed by Shift +/- and edit modes are accessed via 1-5. We don't have the ability to set it back atm though.

It was my suggestion. I'm sorry you have to get used to the new hotkeys now, but I think it will pay off on the long run. Here's my explanation about why I think it's a better way, pasted from the internal testers forum:

Yeah, the, V, E, P, V and O have been replaced by request to 1-6. I'm still getting used to it too.

Perhaps it's better to leave things as they were?

Maybe...I think they were more intuitive then (as letters) Smile

I disagree. It's not less intuitive if you see the position of the edit modes in those tabs and hit the right number.
And it's more ergonomic too. The edit mode keys are a group of keys with the same purpose and thus should be close together. That's the reason why the basic editing (move, scale..) is F1 to F5(?) in milkshape and moving is G in blender, not M or T (for translate). The main keys shouldn't be scattered all around the keyboard, just to fit the first letter of the word. I, like most people I guess, keep my left hand on wsad or somewhere close. If i wanted to switch to object mode, i would have to move all the way to O, which is on the other side of the keyboard, only to select another object. And then look back on the keyboard, to find the V etc. I wouldn't want to work on a big scene like that.

I think you should consider allowing the hotkeys to be customized. I know the change threw me off after upgrading, and even after getting used to the change I definitely preferred the grid size shortcuts on the number keys and first-letter edit mode keys.

I'm with you on maybe having some sorta ability to set the shortcuts as we like, but i'm also with Mr.Fletcher on how the setup is for right now, untill we have a better way of setting it up.

I really like to be able to change the edit-mode by pressing 1-5. And I don't understand why people are talking about changing gridsizes. Mode-switching happens ALOT more often than changing the gridsize. Might be my workflow though. Confused

I agree about the ability to customize the keysettings. The problem is that there is a long todo-list and it's quite hard to prioritize.
