Hi guys,
I've a problem when exporting to .3DS format.
I get an error like the following:

Access violation at address 0A4BE73C in module 'Import3DS.DLL'. Read of address 00000000

I think the problem is that i'm using version 1.0 but the plug in works with deled 0.9 and i can't found it Shocked where can i found it?

sorry for my bad english

Hi Stelk, welcome to these forums.

I must say, I am a bit confused. As far as I know, there is no exporter plugin for .3DS, only an importer. The 0.90 version of the import plugin works with DeleD version 0.90 and upwards, it works just fine with DeleD 1.0 .

Assuming you are indeed using the importer, what 3DS file are you trying to import? Anything strange about it? If you can send it to me (paul at delgine dot come) I can have a go at it, and try to figure out what is wrong.

Aha, I figured out what went wrong: For some reason a buggy version of the 3DS importer got packaged with the DeleD Lite installer. I use the latest version of the importer, so I didn't notice.

To fix things, download the latest version of the 3DS importer from the plugins download page (http://www.delgine.com/index.php?filename=product_plugins&menus=off), and extract it to the DeleD plugins subfolder.

I will notify Jeroen, so he can fix the installer package.

Thanks for reporting this issue! If you need any help, just yell!

Oh, and about a DeleD/Delgine Chat room, we don't have one, but it sounds like fun. We'll think about it!

I have a pretty good idea: you keep finding bugs because we didn't test things well enough Embarassed Obviously there are not many people out there using this importer, or they always import everything (like I do). Shame on me, I should test all options with every release.

I will fix things asap (meaning: within 24 hours).

Very silly bug indeed, I obviously didn't check wether these options still worked when I did the last rewrite (which was in November, lol). It is fixed now, please get the latest version from the plugins download page (http://www.delgine.com/index.php?filename=product_plugins&menus=off) and see if it works for you!

If you run into more things, or you have requests for things you'd like to see implemented, don't hesitate to ask! Thanks!

HI guys

Sorry to bring up this old post, but I am a bit confused. Paul-Jan, you say that Delgine doesn't come with an exporter for 3ds format, but clearly it states that it does on this page http://www.delgine.com/index.php?filename=product_deled&menus=off

The only reason I downloaded this software was so I could convert x files to 3ds files.

Could someone please clarify this for me? Thanks muchly.

Hi chagen,

You've found a faulty statement on our productpage! It should have read that there are importers for various fileformats as well, one of which is 3DS. I'll correct this asap, thanks for mentioning it!

I think that many DeleD users would like it to be able to export into .3DS format aswell.. Smile

I too at first downloaded DeleD because of the faulty statement. But after i had spent some time experimenting with it i still found it useful enough..

I once tried to create my own plugin for exporting into .3DS format using Lib3DS but i couldn't fix some problems with materials.. Rolling Eyes

Hope the .3DS exporter plugin is still coming in the future..

Thank You

Well, of course, if the community wants .3ds export, we'll seriously consider doing a plugin format. Smile

What do you want to have .3ds export for? In other words, what will .3ds export allow you to do that none of the other supported export formats will?
