|
|
Ok, I admit I'm new here. But as I've been perusing old forum posts and several types of assets and the like have popped up from the community, but the idea of placing those files on this server could possibly crash due to bandwidth. So, I was wondering if anyone might be interested in helping me start up packs of free, LEGAL, Deled community assets shared throughout the community in torrents.
I'm willing to seed if anyone else is game. I figure if everyone pitched in now and then w/ their own prefabs, textures, etc. we could both increase activity, as well as interest in the program. Not to mention help out one another. |

I applaud initiatives like these, good idea!
Just be aware that not everyone "does" torrents (not on principle, but just because it's not a medium we use for anything so no tools running) so some people might not now how to access these files or how to offer their assets for sharing.
On a side note, I still think that offering an central library (and exchange!) of assets (including integration in DeleD itself) would add value and be feasible, it's just that I'm not going to be the one to setup it up anytime soon. |

Ok, i've setup a service on my second Homeserver. There should be always at least 1 seed available.
I like your Pack and idea, when i find the time I'll contribute some work too. |

Hello Harper.
Good to see you back.
I couldn't make out your website, as I don't read German, so could not see your models. Do you have a direct link to the page?
[Moderator]Harpers post was an accidental crosspost and got removed while you posted this... find his original post in his work-tread here: http://www.delgine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3830&start=61

Those are some nice looking models. I think I've seen a few of them showcased here on the forum. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Low Poly Table and Chair Set TEXTURES
Ok, thought I'd share a few of the textures I've made for my table/chair set. Shows what a difference good textures make (the ones that came w/ it were done in like 2 minutes flat).

Enjoy! and remember to keep seeding! (I keep file sizes small for a reason )
And yes, I did put welds on the table, and yes, that is Cernunnos on the celtic table . |

Harper, I really like what you are doing... I too share a like for early buildings etc.
Do you do this for fun, or a living?
I may have a proposition for you, and anyone else that can produce good quality models, scenes, textures etc. Our company is starting up, offering unique solutions for secure virtual environments for meetings, training, onboarding, education etc. Some of our clients require a replica environment of their board rooms, meeting rooms, training facilities, even their whole building complex, all to scale, using photographs for texturing and design. _________________ Politeness is priceless when received, cost nothing to own or give, yet some cannot afford.

Thanx alot Mars,
and YES, i do it for fun, 'cause working with DeleD is fun.
Your "real" projects sounds interesting, but i would prefer
1. showing my fantasies about a possible, but alternate history - or
2. maybe i find something to do in 3D-reconstruction of real old structures.
So building what i see all day long (in business) seems a little bit boring? |

Sorry unphazed, didnt mean to derail your post.
It would seem you have started a trend, more of us are posting our models here for sharing.
I'm using the dmf format which is a native Prefab format for DeleD. This is for models that are single item (or merged multiple items) that have UV mapping for texturing (textures don't always transfer well).
For other models that can be exported into other formats, I've downloaded and use the Package Importer/Exporter pluggin. This allows for multiple model scenes, complete with textures, to be exported as a type of Zip file, but with a dps extention native to DeleD.
It works very well, albeit says export only used textures, it will export all textures that you load in the materials editor project folder, so cleaning up textures from the folder that are not used is good housekeeping. _________________ Politeness is priceless when received, cost nothing to own or give, yet some cannot afford.

I strongly support the idea of a community-based source of free models.
BUT:
There must be an operator, who manage this. Anyone who checks the incoming models for adding useful tags and placing it in the database. Commenting things like polycount etc. maybe helpful. Otherwise the bandwidth should be moderate if we keep distributing only DeleD-DPS ( the package exporter) files. They are only useful for DeleD-users.
Who is interested, has the capabilities for such a website? The honour will follow soon, as you can see on the traffic on this (beloved) forum!
So where are YOU? |
