Thanks chronozphere,

Quote:
...Main_Initialize: g_tex_camera_frame=0 ..

This error means that the program can't find a texture (a .png file)
It is the first texture that loads.
I have packed all media, using the molebox 9x and I wondering if there is an issue with this Confused
It sounds weird because I have test the packed application, on my system without errors.
Are you 'running' under XP?

Your graphics adapter is better by far than the requirements of the game

I'm running windows 7. I just downloaded and started the exe.

Edit: Hmm.. it suddenly works. The first screen looks kinda neat. Very Happy

Edit2: This game is quite cool. Very Happy The controls are a bit odd though. Camera with the right mousebutton, moving with the arrows and jumping with the spacebar. I constantly have to move my hands to do things.

Also, a nice "death" animation would be cool... At the moment, the character just stands there and is eventually respawned. Smile

I know where the error came from. I tried to start it from the FireFox downloads window. For some reason, this doesn't work OK. Confused

I'm using xp. It loaded and played fine, eccept for the wackey controls. It's really difficult to get a grasp on those controls.
The look of the game is great. I love the water reflections and waves. Great job on that.
Now, How do I get across the rivers of death? I dropped the boxes to make a bridge, but they came a tad short so I never made it across.

I appreciate very much your feedback
I don't have a better solution in my mind as far as the controls are concerned. Any idea on this? Question

@chronozphere:Yeah... you are right. It is already in my todo list

@trucker2000: if you are referring to the first level there is a video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEdMcw0HolE
If you are referring to the second level, then please ignore it because I have accidentally include this level to the demo Embarassed

As for the controls, the avatar moves in odd directions depending on the camera view. It should turn based on It's view. That would make navigating more natural.

As for the boxes, without the video, I would never have thought the av could jump that far. (mabe add one more box?) After watching the vid, I was able to make it to level 2.

This is a fun little game to play. My grandson likes it too. (he's 10 )
Good job.

I have a special reason to be happy for this, my son is 9 years old and I have not show the game to him yet, I am a 100Km away from him... Sad

He's going to love it. My grandson's only complaint was that level 2 was the end.

Hi paul_nicholls, Smile
Thanks for your info. The game starts by default in full screen mode 1280x1024 32bit color
Please, if you have the time, download again because I changed the default settings to 800x600 32bit window mode

IMPORTAND: delete the settings.ini file (if any)

Hi Smile
It works now, thanks Smile

is there anyway to rotate the camera independently from the character?

It is rather hard otherwise.

It would also be very nice to be able to move with the mouse - clicking on the level too Wink

cheers,
Paul

Keep the right mouse button pressed and move your mouse.

It requires a 3D path finding algorithm. Although I have implemented such an algorithm, I don't think that this type of game deserves it

The following keys work:
Jump=Spacebar
forward, strafe and backwards=cursor keys
Rotate camera=RMB hold and move.
Zoom in/out=Shift + forward/back cursor keys.

I am hopeless and run and jump type games, timing is always wrong for me LOL.. I did try several times before giving up. 2 Crates and a jump will get to the 2nd island. I love the belching tree LOL.

Here is the list for the key shortcuts during the game (I will implement a help screen for this)
Avatar move: Arrow keys
Avatar jump: Space
Pause the Game / game menu: ESC
Toggle camera freeze (prevents the camera from trying to get behind the player): F5
Toggles camera auto-turn future: F6
Attach - Detach camera from player: F7
Toggle the sound: F9
Toggle the music: F10
Move camera forward: W
Move camera backward: S

I've added bump map support to the engine and the diamonds now are better
I've added a Depth of Field effect (DOF) and I think it gives a better visual to the whole game
Here is the link for your convenience to see these changes if you want:

The whole thing is very delightful, looks very professional and immersive.

The only thing I find totally distracting is the way the camera doesn't follow the player in the 3rd person persepective. It seems to lock itself on an axis and goes behind the building, obscuring the view. I tried playing with the functions but I believe it would benefit from a 'follow cam setting that allows a slightly elevated, looking down from behind the avatar view.

If you fix that, and still allow for a floating camera for those akward places, you are onto a marketable product. I look forward to seeing/playing more.

Oh, you cannot play this as soon as you have downloaded it, you have to run it from the files location, not from the download box. I get an error eachtime I do that.

Thanks AWM Mars for your suggestions. I'll take into account and I'll experiment with a fixed camera behind the player although from a programmer's perspective view this is the most easy way to go Wink
