Hi Deled community. It has been long time since ive been here and i desided to post couple of images of my hobby projects, just to show that i havent forgot about deled. Smile

First images are from project named Submerged (named after the texture set that are made by Philip Klevestav (http://www.philipk.net). He released alot of old textures free to use, so i desided to do something with em.

Also im using couple of models and music loops made by Psionic3D for free to use.

Here is image of all the objects i have made ( more to come! ).

Here is a ingame screenshot to see them in action. Smile

Im using Unity3D so i hope i can give u a demo to try ( Three cheers to web player support). Smile

Last image is an asian style building (indoor only for now) that i have been working on. I do not know if im going to use it later or not it has been just fun to do. Also uses textures by Philip Klevestav (from same free texture pack). Smile

Anyway comments, ideas and questions are welcome as always.

Hi there Timpuktu, nice to see you again. Smile

You're definitely up to something here. Screens look good. You certainly know where to get the good stuff. Philip Klevestav creates awesome things, from what I've seen on his website, and anything made by Psionic is simply amazing (I'm a fan Wink).

Keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks for your comments everyone and nice to see you too Jeroen. Smile

I actually started modelling and coding again when i stumbled upon Delgine site and saw that you released DeleD Community Edition. After i had picked my jaw up from floor, i started to build models for fun until i decided to start a game project and that is how project submerged emerged. Very Happy

My idea is to make a Sci-fi Third Person Shooter similar to Alien breed with some roleplay elements. Like you are going to have only one weapon ( pistol in left arm) and you can attach weapon mods in it. Like flamethrower, rocket / grenade launcher and such. Also i thought that player would have five implant slots that contain different implants that affects players attributes like accuracy, movement speed, etc.

Everything is still at planning state and nothing is written in stone, yet.

Right now im going to design a demo level for the game ( current level is just to test my building blocks) and then release a demo. I think the demo sould have atleast one objective to complete and some enemies to shoot at.

Anyway ill keep posting new screenshots, ideas and anything that relates to this project. I propably make new topic in DeleD User Game Projects and more detailed information about my game there.

Sounds like fun, if I can help, please just ask.... I'm looking for a project to give something to, for a while at least. Very Happy

AWM Mars: Thank you for offering your help. I'm just not sure if i want to ask it because as it happens most of these hobby / indie project's never see the light of day.
So i don't want to waste anyone's time if this project dies for some reason.
However if you dont mind wasting your time for a random project that might become something or not then i dont see why not to take all the help i can get. Wink

Anyway today i desided to release Alpha version (0.0.0.0...n or something) and here it is in all it's glory. Very Happy

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23241894/Submerged/WebPlayer.html

There isnt much to do yet, but well atleast you can try it. Game file size is about 2Mb so it should not take too long to load.

Edit: Almost for got to say that you need to install Unity3D web player plugin (http://www.unity3D.com) to play the game.

Controls are,
Move - Arrow keys / WSAD keys
Aim - Hold right mouse button
Shoot - Left mouse button while aiming

I desided to do the aiming similar to Resident Evil 4/5 so you cant move while you aim. This sould be fun when i add monsters that tries to eat you feet while other's shoot you with slime. Very Happy

There is still some bugs with the camera system but im still quite happy with it. This does not mean that i wont try to improve it.

Edit: I was thinking of making a ladder but i desided not to do it, atleast not now. I need to fix the camera before i can do that. Also i updated the web player so there is second floor but you can just walk to there. Im planing to make this level in tutorial for the game. I think this would be best for first level and also then i have most of the features i need to complete the game when i have fully working tutorial level. Still lots and lots of things to do.

Anyway comments, questions and everything between is needed so ill be able to improve my game.

This is certainly a good start and one I wouldn't mind being involved in.

I like the oveall concept, although I have always favoured the point click to move, then use right mouse button to aim, combo left click to fire. That way you can choose your new location and fire whilst running.

Anyway, I am only a modelling guy and a newb at that. I work best recreating 'real' things.

If you want to explore what we can do, drop me an email, or post here first. Smile

I like the idea to move by clicking (why i didn't think of that) and i will do some testing. I think it sould be quite simple because i already have implemented A* system created by Aron Granberg for enemies but it could be used by player too.
Here's a link to Aron's site: http://www.arongranberg.com

If you like to make models then you could create some prop models just random stuff that you would expect to see in sci-fi world. Even thought i could send you a test room so you can make everything in scale, even thought i can scale them in Unity3D.
Also i would not mind to get some new enemy models... Laughing

My world default sizes are,

Floor 128x1x128
Wall 128x128x32
Player 48x96x48

Reason for the small sizes is in texture sizes like the wall texture is 128x128. Some of the textures are 256x256 but i didn't want to scale up the wall texture because it would get even more blurry than it is.

Anyway i will do some testing with point 'n click movement and when i get something working done, ill update the web player demo.

Edit: I updated the demo with new controls. It's same link just new version. Also the map is just the first room, i used it as test room for new controls and im going to create more area's later.

Controls
* Hold left mouse button to move.
* Hold right mouse button to aim.
* Shoot with left mouse button while aiming.

I like the controls much more than old one.
Anyway comments are welcome as always,

Movement was slow, mouse aiming was too slippery, you could slide forward while shooting, is this a 007 game?

I have had alot of issues with the movement code and im trying to improve it.
I have been working on some prop models and also planning how to make this a working game. I havent yet desided anything about the story, so maybe he is an IRS agent that has come to collect taxes. Very Happy

Ill keep you guys posted about this game and also some other projects.

Rather than make some random props etc, perhaps you have some sort of a storyboard and 'needed list' that I could work from? If you have textures etc, then I could apply them to get the UV set, saving time etc.

I did a list of prop models for another game recently, it was a demo for something bigger.
http://www.delgine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4188&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=90
see about 1/2 way down the page.

That's how I prefer to work, if you need some help.

You should just used WSAD and rotate the body for strafing. You'll only need to add a backwards running animation that way. Also, the gun did not rotate correctly, the gun was one direction and the laser was in a different direction.

Im not dead nor is this project, i just have had alot of problems with the movement and im actually thinking of change the whole game from third person shooter to turn based squad strategy game similar to Jagged Alliance.
Ofcource not in anyway as huge as jagged alliance but features from it. So you have action points that are used to move, attack, use items, etc. I already have A* system that i tried to use with movement on current version but the camera movement gives headache. So in Strategy game the camera would be easier to implement. Laughing

Everything is still at planning state so it might be a while before there is anything to show.

In a mean while here is a screenshot of cave level i started to make for fun and improve my skills.

Anyway ill keep posting more images of my deled creations. (maybe i rename this topic as Timpuktu's Gallery of Random Meshes). Cool

Edit: AWM i completely missed your post. Embarassed
As i have said, this project is as it is and i don't realy wan't to ask your help (or anyway else for that matter) with the project just yet. Alot of preliminary work need to be done before i know exatly what i need to make my game.
I still appreciate your offer and ill ask your help when the time comes but im not there yet nor the game is. Smile
