|
|
Hi! I have a fence texture ( as seen below ), that I'd like to rotate (or rather, shear). Sort of like having UV coords 0,0;1,0;1,1;0,1; but even the GenUV 'Fit Texture Size to Face' still keeps the vertical orientation and doesn't do a true 'fit to face'. What's the best way to tackle this problem?

Click on your object in object mode to select it.
Go into face mode.
Click on the face you want to work on. At this point, you can scale or rotate. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

It's awesome! The only thing that I wish it did was a better rotate of the texture, then it would probably be perfect. |

Are you talking about rotating the UV vertices, because it can do that.
I don't completely understand what you mean. |

Maybe it's because the texture is 64x128 and not square?? |

Ah, first of all make sure you see the polygons in your left view (UV view).
Then make sure the texture is shown in your UV view (look at the setting in the status bar and double click it to change. You will need "TEXTURE" or "TILES")
Now select the fence polygons in the right 3D view. You should see them highlighted in UV view.
If the fence polygons are overlapping, you should separate them. Finally use move, rotate, scale to move each polygon in the UV window until it is placed correctly onto your texture. Keep checking your results in the 3D view.
You can also try to use planar mapping. Orient the plane so that it is aligned with the fence and use the "map" tool to map the texture onto all selected polygons.
Hope it works for you! |
