Hi all,
Ok i've decided to go with the Deled>ultimate unwrap>Blitz3d route ..
I have created a model with 3 separate joints and assigned some
primatives and vertices to them.
In Deled, i now have 3 separate skeletons and 3 separate animations
which play ok when i select them.

When i export this to ms3d and import to UU, there are 3 joints
showing (under bones), but all the animations are connected to the first joint.

Anyone know what i'm doing wrong ?

The plan was to export from UU as b3d and get blitz3d to animate these
separately using the appropriate sequence ... how do i get separate
animation sequences into the b3d file ?

Cheers people.
Pete.

Here's a screen dump if that explains it better ...
I was hoping to be able to animate the keys (shown in purple)
separately ... seems possible in deled but when i export to ms3d
and import this to UU all the animations are lumped together.
Same when i export from UU to b3d and load into blitz3d, there is
only 1 animation sequence with all 3 keys moving..

(actually, just noticed that this is an old screen shot : the 3rd animation is missing in this pic, but the affect is the same !)

Cheers all.

At a quick glance, wouldn't each skeleton and animation require unique naming?

Hi AMW,

thanks for the suggestion ..

I tried changing the names of the joints and animations ...
same result. The new names are showing up in UU but all animation
is attached to the first joint only.

(still, i suppose i should give everything sensible names as a matter of
course to avoid confusion ..!)

Hmmmmmmmm.

'tis annoying !

cheers all.

Can you view the exported stuff in MS3D? Is it showing up correctly there and is it behaving as expected?

Hi Jeroen,
Unfortunately i don't have ms ... maybe i could try the demo.

I ultimately want to get it all into blitz3d, and the ms3d exporter in deled
is the only one which can handle animation ... so i export from deled as .ms3d, then i import that to UU and then export to .b3d format.

tbh, i don't think it'll be a problem in the project i have in mind.
This saxophone was just something i decided to try and model
while learning deled. I just thought it would all be easier !!!

Now i need to find out how to do glass ....

cheers all.

You don't have to use a texture for glass, as I posted in the last section of that topic. Using a simple colour material generated within DeleD, and altering the colour map transparencies of the vertices's, is a very simple and low cost way of doing glass. Cool

Yeah, the demo works just fine for testing purposes. I think you should check if the export from DeleD is imported just fine within MS. That way, we can determine whether or not something is wrong with DeleD's export, or Milkshape's import.

If all that works fine, then perhaps the export from UU to blitz might be wrong?

You could also import it to Blender to test the animation. There might be even Blitzbasic 3D exporter for blender somewhere. Im not sure of that because i havent used blitzbasic ( i tried it but i was too lazy to learn another programming language).

Problem: When importing .MS3D to blender it might first seem that it dosnt work and blender didnt import anything.

Solution: After you import your .MS3D model to blender, Deselect everything with A. Next select everything with A. Next remove everything by X and click OK. Next Undo previous step (Ctrl+Z) and tada your model is visible. Atleast this is how i got it work on Blender 249.2 Smile

Edit: I can test your model if you like, just post the .ms3d file here and i can take a peek.
