Maybe i can add something, i had the same problem a while ago (thread). The Mouse "stuck" in 2D View, i needed to scroll around half my desk to get somewhere. In 3D View however everything worked as usual. Back then i thought maybe the drivers needed to be updated but that was not the case. Funny enough when i loaded a snapshot of my machine that had still the old drivers it worked.

I have the same problem since a couple of month on Windows7 64bit with nVidia graphic cards. On my other PC running the same OS with ATI everything works fine.

If i remember correctly the issue happened after an driver update. However i did a clean install of the complete system but still the same issue.

Zoom all and zoom with the mousewheel works fine. Only if i press the right mouse butten and move around in a 2D view it is not usable slow.

Edit
Obviously this is a driver issue. I switched back to version 197.45 from June 2010 and now it works. If i go back to the current driver the same problem again.

Just to update this post.
I recently moved my DeleD installation, along with project files etc.

I openned DeleD, started a new project and all the 2D views were extremely laggy, yet the 3D view flew along.

I revisited this post to see if there was any further developments, and thought I would try my previous solution, which surprisingly worked again. (Open existing project and create a cube, delete it, save the file and restart DeleD, all is fixed)

I have no logical explaination why this is the solution, or why the problem exists in the begining, I do however suspect Vista has something to do with this. I have cleaned and checked my registry for spurous entries, updated my graphics drivers, rolled them back, did a clean install, without any improvements, until I did 'my solution'.

Thanks for the update AWM, very helpful. Smile I'm still at a loss about the exact cause of this problem. It seems to be a driver issue, like others suggested, but then again, why would your solution work if it was only a driver problem?

As long as we don't know the exact cause, trying to improve the code would be a waste of time. Let's gather more info and "solutions" here.

The last version of nVidia drivers to work on Windows 7 x64 with DeleD is 257.21.

You might try this:

1) Completely uninstall DeleD from your system (make backups of any of your textures, models, prefabs, plug-ins, etc). Manually delete any residual files.
2) Use a registry cleaner on your system.
3) Install/Update the latest graphics drivers.
4) Restart your system to clear anything lurking in memory.
5) Install DeleD from the latest version off the website.
6) Change the grid settings to say 100x100 in DeleD.
7) Shutdown DeleD and restart it again.
8 ) Drop a cube into a 2D window and try scrolling about.

I may not be everything above that is the cause, but it is something that I did, that seemed to free up the laggy viewports. If that works for you, all well and good. This is what I did, which seemed to cure the situation, albeit I don't know why.
Do not use the 'Update' deled.exe file, as I suspect this does something to the registry or something. I even discovered 2 versions of DeleD running at the sametime once.

The update .exe is just the same executable as found in the complete package.

I still have no idea what causes this particular problem, other than a driver mismatches or something.

Hmm.. the fact it worked one time, shows something is being altered after opening the programe for the first time. The issue for some people has been around for quite a few versions. Strange thing is, for me, after working for the first time, it always worked, unless I upgraded.

@Jeroen
Yes I figured that, but you know how cranky Windows can be. I mean, who would write a OS that puts configurable files into locked folders?

This may be my first entry although I have been reading these forums for quite some time.
I ran across the lagging in the 2D windows also. What I did was load one of the supplied models, tried it and it worked fine. Then I closed that model and went back to what I was doing and everything was fine.
Why...I haven't a clue, but it worked for me. Confused

Thanks fik,

Now you have once again amazed us with your prowess, can you tell us what was the cause? If for no other reason, so I can use that information at my next party, so I can sound intelligent Laughing

Whoa, fik, good work! Although I can't test this myself as I never experienced the problem in the first place. Wink

Anyway, what was the cause of this strange bug?? I'm eager to know!
