|
|
I have been looking at DeleDPro and comparing it with CShop, made by The Game Creators (www.thegamecreators.com) and I was just wondering which I should buy. Could someone help and point me in the direction of things which DeleDPro can't do? I'm trying to compare it with some of these pics: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=45155&b=13&p=0
Thanks,

CShop can texture and do lightmaps.
Deled can "texture" and has a feature called lightmapping, however it doesn't operate in any way resembling a lightmapper.
Deled has a nice team, and a better file format. CShop wants you to pay extra to be able to make your own file format plugin. |

You have to pay extra with CShop to make your own plugin? With DeleD, you get updates to the next big version number for free and we'll even help you with creating your plugin for free too.
Btw, anything you can do with CShop, you can do with DeleD. You can do even more with DeleD because of its modelling capabilities. |

There is nothing in those screenshots the current version of DeleD Pro couldn't produce. Even lite would get you a long way, but the lightmaps would not look as good and be too big. |

Serious developers have the option to license a special version of the editor that saves to your own file format and may be freely distributed to your users. |

That sounds like that is "the" way to go according to whoever made that comment. But to be honoust, I don't believe in that. Keeping things simple and trying to get the best out of people's creativity sounds more like it. |

I have used Cshop and am interested in DeledPro.
The whole thing about paying for plugins isn't as big as an issue you you think. Though Cshop files are poorly or not compatible with future releases. In other words, you must start your project again with each update. this is suppoed to be fixed with the next version, but it still will not be able to fully load with out some manupulation.
my Q's about DeledPro:
How do you get your models in to DarkBasic? DirectX?
Can you have your structured be light mapped so you see as you walk through?
Are there tags so you can later put in sounds at certain spots for you your game?
Can I import my own 3d models into it form 3ds Max or Cinema 4d? |

Hi ther Guyon and welcome!
To answer your questions:
1. Yes, DeleD exports (and imports) DirectX files which can be used in DarkBasic.
2. Yes, DeleD allows you to create lightmapped scenes which can be viewed from within the editor. Also, PRO features far more advanced lightmapping than LITE.
3. Yes, each 3D object has a general purpose tag property (string type).
4. Yes, DeleD has various importers. Like X, OBJ, 3DS, B3D. More to come also. |

You can make a new CShop plugin using any programming language that can compile a DLL.
People here seem to be confusing that with a distribution license. Let's say someone was a publishing a game and wanted a map editor they could distribute with it, for their users to make new maps for that game. That's where a licensing fee would come in.
There are no fees or restrictions on making plugins for CShop. |

WOW you can not load any of those in to Cshop! Except for .X which requires a 3rd party converter. |

No, that's not true. CShop has it's own converter plus I wrote an .obj plugin myself. |

well, a thing deled is missing and cshop has is carving.
sure, you can do without it, but carving saves much time.
Both are nice, but deled has friendlier support. |
