As the heading says, Garage Games has released one of the easiest Scene Managers - Torque 3D, for free under MIT license.
Get the full source code here https://github.com/GarageGames/Torque3D
I gave it a wirl recently and its a great Scene Manager. I especially like the way it handles water, terrains, clouds, lighting and mesh/paint roads.
I'm working on a workflow that uses the Collada format from DeleD. I'll let you know once I get a grips with this workflow, albeit I envisage having to use the OpenCollada plugin from 3D Max in the mix. _________________ Politeness is priceless when received, cost nothing to own or give, yet some cannot afford.

Using deled's collada format in torque is easy. Just place the dae and images in a folder, copy them to your shapes folder, and place them like any other shape. (using torques own editors)
Torque will automatically convert it to dts for you. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Thanks for the heads up, I knew you are a bit of a veteran with Torque.
I was looking for a workflow that included baked lightmaps, which I know DeleD doesn't do. However, a little digging revealed that Torques own world editor will bake its own lightmaps, on final production render.
I've been going over some of the tutorials of Torque, its a powerful bit of kit. If I had a wish list, I would want tiered levels of exposure to the settings. Sometimes its just overwhelming to have so many settings to play with. What's also daunting about that, I can't find a 'default' reset or Undo feature.
I have a DeleD project that I want to see in Torque. The Presentation Suite I developed is supposed to be floating in the clouds, Toque seems to be the first Scene Manager I've come across/delved into, that has clouds in multiple adjustable height layers.
EDIT: Having played about, I did get one level (of four) of The Presentation Suite into Torque, but all the textures are reversed in both axis. This has caused some normals to be reversed as well in the transition, giving some strange shadowing and transparencies. Have you experienced this Dave? _________________ Politeness is priceless when received, cost nothing to own or give, yet some cannot afford.

I haven't experienced that with torque. As for baked lightmaps, check out the GG store. There is a program called "truelight". That's what it does. You set your lights in it, and it renders the lightmaps, bakes them, and produces the proper files needed to get it into torque.
As for the settings, they can be a bit daunting at first. No, there isn't a reset, so I always make a backup of my .mis file before playing with the settings. Then play all I want with the backup. After fiddiling, messing up totally, starting over again, (using a copy of the backed up .mis file) I eventually figured out a lot of the settings. After that, it's pretty straight forward. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

I found purelight http://www.garagegames.com/products/purelight @ $500, whilst it's good, I can bake lightmaps using 3DMax, which I already have I just haven't done a workflow for that, and to be honest, I'd sooner have a workflow from DeleD straight into Torque as I find using 3DMax in the mix, to be a chore. Maybe oneday, someone could be persuaded to write a Collada Plugin for DeleD, using the OpenCollada sdk
https://github.com/KhronosGroup/OpenCOLLADA Just in case anyone is interested
As for porting my existing models over, maybe I need to redo them, using some of the skills I learnt doing the orginals. At least that way, they should be cleaner. _________________ Politeness is priceless when received, cost nothing to own or give, yet some cannot afford.
