I couldn't figure out which forum to put this in, so, if it's in the wrong one, please feel free to move it. (I'll find it)
Is there a newer version of the Direct X exporter available somewhere? Or does DeleD just need to update it?
I've been looking into why Irrlicht doesn't display X files exported from Deled, and the only difference I can find is in the header. (there are probably more that I haven't found)
DeleDs current header says:
But Giles (which works with Irrlicht) says:
I'm not a coder, so I can't say what in the world those numbers mean unless they are version numbers.
Btw, I'm impressed with the pro version. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

I have a simular problem with DeleD's exported .x files and Irrlicht.
I can export fine, and they show up fine when compiled with Irrlicht. The only problem is when Irrlicht goes to load the textures of the model, it gives error messages and says it fails to find them, but when you view the models in the application, the textures seem to work anyways..
Although, if you export the the model to .x then export agian using DirectX's mesh viewer tool, it seems to fix the problem. Any thoughts? |

Hey Guys,
why do you want to use DIrectX exported from DeleD in Irrlicht?
Irrlicht 0.10.0 directly loads DMF (DeleD file format) files.
It's just an idea!!!

*wow* lots of new information at once.
First of all, as far as I was aware (up till say 5 minutes ago), there wasn't a problem at all with loading DeleD's exported .X files into Irrlicht. There used to be some small issues with whitespace at certain places (because of a small issue in the irrlicht .x loader), but those have been resolved a long time ago.
I will look into it, and see if we can fix things. Of course, as Il Buzzo suggests, it makes more sense loading the dmf files directly since Irrlicht supports us these days, but I think we all agree .X files should work just as well.
Oh, and Trucker2000, we are glad you like the PRO version |

Thanks for the welcome.
I had forgotten about Irlricht importing DeleDs files natively when I started this thread. Thanks for the reminder.
As for the aAPI, Irrlicht is a graphics engine. (darn goodin too )
