|
|
Hi, i'm still reading/looking things up on things for 3d game making. I've hit a snag tho. I'm still perty new to 3d game makeing and all this 3d programs, i'm 15 and i've been doing 2d games for about 2 years now, so i'm not fully new to game make it self. From what I get so far about this, I need 2 programs to make a 3d game. 3d game engines and a 3d graphics engine. The thing is I don't have a 3d game engine yet, and i'm perty poor to buy one for $70+. So like if you know any free ones or other ways of how to put a game togather I would be most apresheated. |

You could try DarkBasic to be found here: http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com. DeleD works perfectly together with DarkBasic too so this could be a good place to start. |

And they better pay us for this free advertizing
It all depends what programming environment you have been making those 2D games in. A game maker tool? A programming language like C++? What exactly are your skills, and what kind of "3D game" are you planning to game? |

No. The graphics, physics, sound, etc...engines are (or should) be included in the game engine.
If you know python scripting, you can look at pygame _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

There are two free, public 3d game makers that I know of right now. 3d rad wich uses its own 3d engine and Reality Factory, wich uses the genisis 3d engine. Neither is intuitive and both only work with 3dsmax and there own map files. The engines are a bit old but you can get a doom 2 like shooter up if you can program. Only drawback on the general public releases is you can't release the games as stand alones but it will give you a good idea of what you need to do to make a game. |

Reality factory is too old to be of any use anymore. I haven't looked at the other one.
As far as free game engines go, there really aren't any worth anything. You would need to build one, or buy one. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

No. Milkshape 3D is a 3D editor, not an engine. It's mostly suitable for creating animated lowpoly characters for games. For creating the static environment... well, you know what to use.
Max Payne was made with Remedy's Max FX engine and toolset, including the MaxEd editor tailor-made for that engine. |

Yes, but that doesn't mean the game itself was made using MS3D. The program only supports the format, that's all. |

Don't argue with him. He'll see for himself how much of a game a folder full of 3d files will get him. |
