Hi all, i'm looking at Deled Lite right now, and it's very nice.
I really would like to try Pro, becasue substraction and such is important to me.
I have seen some pictures on the pro forum and it looks nice....but i would really love to see some wires of it. Something simple as a cube minus a cylinder is nice enough.
Many times substraction screw a model up (just look at this for example: http://www.ac3d.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1233).

I did notice the textures in the cylinder substraction ( on the Pro board) are wrong, they are rotated on an axis giving the impression Deled Pro can not calculate the angle well enough.....

How advanced is the substraction?

Kind regards,
Aza

Here's a little something to take a look at:

64 polygons
88 vertices
Original cylinder having 20 sides

Do notice that vertices on the other side of this object are visible as well. Wink I'll write more about the current CSG routines and my plans with it later. Stay tuned!

Hi Jeroen,
thank you for the fast reply.
The substraction looks clean, but it could ofcourse be even better.
Will you keep on coding to improve it? Although polygoncount is not the most important to keep in mind when building 3d worlds, i would like to keep it as clean as possible.

Could i bother you once more?

What happens if you use your example and substract a cube on the right side of the cylinder, slightly overlapping it?

Yes, I will keep on improving it. The CSG routines are only in their first stage. On my list are merging coplanar polygons and then retriangulate the final object. In order to achieve that, I will have to make a few pretty large adjustments to the internal datamodel of DeleD, so it'll take a while. Rest assured, it will be accomplished. Smile

Here's a picture of your request:

This example shows what I mean. There are polygons that can be merged together, resulting in a cleaner object. This will be worked on.

Thank you, looks real nice.

I'll toy a little more with Lite (it works really different then what i'm used to) but i'm very happy with it so far.
Will post a screeny when i have something to show Smile

Cool. Very Happy Care to tell us what you're used to? Maybe we can learn something from it. Smile

I'm working with Lightwave 8.3 and Modo for most of my work (Zbrush 2 for the details). Deled is something i'm looking into for a small team (11 people) who want to create a videogame (starting simple ofcourse).

We are looking into a couple of tools including Deled. When we've made a decision we're planning on doing some tutorials for our team and then let them have a go with it.

I've done some work for larger companies and these are friends who want to have a new hobby. So it's nothing proffesional...although we do want to create great models.

Sound cool! Please do post some of your work, I'd love to see some. Very Happy And I'm sure I'm not the only one around here!

Note that if you want your entire team to use DeleD PRO, you will have to get multiple licenses as we use a 1 license per person policy. However, it is cheaper to get multiple licenses at once, if needed, just like the AC3D people do, for example (btw, we're cheaper Wink). Contact me if you're interested. Smile
