Okay here we go. Attempt 1.

At first, I was going to post just one image, but I thought everyone would create something too similar. So instead, I found 3 pictures of the same place and you can make what you want, using them for direction.

No need for any rules I think. This isn't a competition. Polygon count doesn't doesn't matter. Just for fun, to see what other people come up with. Get an idea that relates somehow to the 3 pictures below, and create something in deled with it. Then post a screenshot in the thread.

If you do not have hosting for a screenshot, use a free www.photobucket.com account, or a similar service. If this goes well, perhaps we can try it again, with someone else picking some photo references. I know others like to do medieval or sci-fi stuff. We can do it all.

After an hour of fooling around.

The textures are a total disaster. I'm going to make a street corner in the same style as those building, and attempt a fire escape. Laughing
2 more hours and I should be done, any more is too much.

Let's see....in about 30 minutes, I searched, found, built. Need a few more minutes to actually finish up the outside.

I like that. Laughing

Reminds me of GTA style texturing on the doorway / shop windows.

I love google images. Smile Sometimes you can get great textures from there.

This one's going to drive me nuts till I get it right. Might have to break down and make a street texture so the city part looks halfway decent.

I'm done. I left it simple, and found better textures. Luigi's pizza at night, with the lights from within shining on the sidewalk.

My incarnation. I admit to enhancing the contrast in Photoshop to make it look shinier, hope that's not against the rules of this un-competition Smile.

Holy hell!

That's close to what I was going to make, with the raised bricks around the yards, and the pizza shop on the corner. That is very nice. I just think you should have a light source on the red building where that white light is coming from. I wasn't sure any of you guys would go for this, so I didn't too much effort into mine. Embarassed
That looks like the stuff I used to map for VTM:R back in 2001-2002
http://photobucket.com/albums/v227/Vampyre_Dark/Mapping%20Portfolio/ (you can see my crappy fire escapes compard to yours there. I've never seen any in real life, none of the buildings have them here, none that I've seen. I had to go by movie scene memory.

Cheers. Will put in a light source, it does look kind of weird with light coming from nowhere Smile. I've never seen any fire escapes like that in real life, only in films and pictures. I just followed what that picture looked like. That stuff of yours looks very good, more realistic polygon count since it's in a game, I just wen't mad with the detail in mine so the polygon count kind of exploded Razz. Would be useless as part of a scene in a game (on average spec computers anyway).
