the textures in the DeleD LITE package, i have looked high and low (although i probably skipped the area that has the info knowing my luck), what is the license for textures in the LIGHT package? are they 100% free?

The reason i need to know is i have a month until i need to submit my game to GameDev.net for the 4E4 competition, and i should start looking for other textures now if they aren't free. basically the rights i need for them, is the rights to redistribute the textures and the same rights for gamedev.net.

in the words of a staff member from gamedev.net

Simply put, we need to be able to use your entry to promote the site.

the exact legal text is below
Quote:
By entering, the entrant represents and warrants that they have the right to grant GameDev.net the rights set forth above and hereby warrants that (1) the entry material is original and they are the sole author of and owner of all rights including copyrights to the entry and that the entry is not subject in whole or in part to claims of ownership of others or (2) the entry is subject, in whole or in part, to claims of ownership and copyright by others but that the entrant has the right to grant GameDev.net the rights set forth above. The entrant retains any and all rights of ownership, intellectual property rights and all other rights entrant may have in and to the entry. Notwithstanding mentioned ownership rights, by entering, the entrant personally or on behalf of their company grant GameDev.net permanent, non-exclusive, world-wide rights and a license, but not an obligation, free of any charge or compensation, to use, edit, copy, distribute and publish all or part of the entry, and all rights subsidiary to and derivative from the entry, in any medium now known or invented in the future, for promotional, advertising or demonstration purposes for GameDev.net's products or services or for GameDev.net generally.

and if you need further information to answer my question, here is the url http://www.gamedev.net/community/contest/4e4/

thank you very much in advance. and if this is in the wrong forum section, terribly sorry.
Boris

Disregarding the legal mumbo jumbo for a moment, all content that comes with DeleD (0.86 and above, before that we used to distribute some textures found on the internet) or is downloadable from our site is 100% free to use for whatever you want, so using it for some competition should never be a problem.

Strictly speaking, we don't really like the idea of people doing things like reselling the textures, and we'll try to stop them if they do. However, you are fully entitled to "grant GameDev.net the rights to permanent, non-exclusive, world-wide rights and a license, but not an obligation, free of any charge or compensation, to use, edit, copy, distribute and publish all or part of the entry, and all rights subsidiary to and derivative from the entry".
