|

What I would like to know is how to make my window cast a shadow like this one:
http://g2.3dcentral.net/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=327 (from this forum somewhere but can't find it at the moment.)
Here's how mine looks:

The light is shining thru the glass, but do I need to make the letters in the words darker in order for them to show on the ground??
I have my intensity setting at 300.
Lightmap size is 1024 _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

It's a good question, this behaviour has been slightly changed as per DeleD 1.34: the intensity of the color of the letters does not affect the shadow, it only affects the color of the shadow. The amount of light let through is influenced by the alpha layer. In other words, you have two options:
1. mark the letters out on your alpha channel, giving them a (much) bigger alpha value than the rest of the glass. This would definitely be your best bet. The alpha of the letters in the example screenshot is 255.
2. give the letters a distinct hue from the rest of the glass. This won't change the amount of light passing true, but it will give the light a different color.
Note: from the screenshot, it looks like those letters are fairly detailed. Keep in mind that any lightmap has a relative low resolution, so if you want to be able to actually read the letters in the shadow you'll need either very high lightmap settings or a very simple outline for your characters. |

Ok, thankyou.
I redid the texture and it's working now.

I'll get it finished up and looking better. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Oops. You are correct.
the one I linked to is as seen in Irrlicht. The one you linked to (the proper one) is as seen in deled.
Thanks. I really need to clean it up. Too many pics of the same thing in too many different galleries. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.
