Remember my "old" demo level ?
http://www.delgine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=870
Well I've just put the "playable" demo online, so you are free to try it
("playable" is a big word as you only can move and look around ).
Requirements : Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP ; Hardware accelerated video card ; DirectX7 or greater.
This is a stand alone demo with no installation, in 640 x 480 windowed mode.
Download it here (2 216 Ko) :

That's a cool level.
2 problems...
1. I feel awfully short in there. Mabe raise the cameras position.
2. Had to be up against the door to open it.
Now, How in the world did you make your lights look like they were giving off light?
Love those torches. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Its pretty cool...i love the particle effect fires.
My only complaint is that its windowed..
i like fullscreen so maybe a fullscreen option
in the next release.
But still, pretty cool.

Very nice! Nice ambiance, nice textures. What's the engine? Blitz3d? Nice particles! Is that bump mapping or is it just good textures?
great work Mappy! |

I really like the demo! Good atmosphere, nice particles!
I agree with Trucker though; i'm feeling small too in there. But all in all, very nice, keep it up!
I wondering.... it might be a good idea to show off screenshots of user game projects on the Delgine site. Do you guys like that idea? |

I was wondering myself if it was bumpmapping or just clever textureing,
although since the character was so small i couldnt get close enough to
to a light to see.
Its still very cool, i think it is made with blitz3d isnt it?
@Jeroen: Yeah, shots of the game projects using DeleD on the
Delgine site would be cool, would any of my projects make it on
there?

Runs great here. Good stuff. One little thing though. The animation seems too fast. |

you mean the animation of the particle systems in the torches... I guess
and yup, please scale the player up a bit or down-scale the level a bit to get a better feeling of proportion. |

Yeah, your projects would definately make it! We will be redesigning our main site after the DeleD 1.4 release anyway, so i'll discuss this idea with PJ. |

Like that alot - I also think the torch + water/ripple animation could be slower - but love the fog effect underwater. |

Hi all and thanks for all your comments
I wasn't expecting so much attention to be honest
This was (and still is) my very first try at 3D level modelling and programming. So yes there's a lot of things to be enhanced.
The camera is lying on the floor, the water is crappy, the lightmap is not really perfect ... and so and so ...
@trucker2000 : I suppose you are talking about the spots in the room full of pillars ? If so, the colored face of each spot isn't lightmapped, that's why it stays fully bright (this is an easy thing to do with Gile[s]).
@afecelis : I don't really know what is "bump mapping", so I suppose the used textures have a good quality (but they mostly all come from DeleD) . And yes the programming task has been done with Blitz3D.
Have a nice sunday all ! _________________ OL. |
