I have been studying a book on the torque engine, and in it, the writer teaches modeling with milkshape. (gag retch) There is one thing (other than the motion center) that I would love to see implemented in Deled.
For the record, DeleD is much simpler to work with.
In Milkshape, you can go into vertex mode, click in one of the views, and place a vertice point. Once you have all your points, you can go into face mode and make those points into faces.
To do this, you place your points in vertex mode, go into face mode, the click on 3 points counter clockwise. This creates 1 face. It's an easy way to make a complex model, and it's quick. (eccept milkshape likes to make things inside out)
Here is a screenshot showing what I am talking about.
If Deled had this feature, and an animation studio, there would be no other program made that could touch it. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

You could do the same with Polyline. It's the same idea only you connect as you draw. _________________

Ok, I'll have to give that a try. Thanks. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Yeah animation like keyframes would be a great addition to DeleD. Another great thing would be Inverse Kinematics. Does milkshape have skeletal animation? |

It does.
If you want keyframes and bones, why not just grab blender? _________________

Blender...nevermind. No.
Back on topic tho, I tried DeleDs polyline function. It's ok, but milkshapes setting vertice points and joining them is much smoother. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

I also used Milkshape before DeleD (I'm using it still, though) and I would also like to see such a feature in DeleD. _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

Gamespace has a free bone setup as well. It also suffers from a shit gui.
What is smoother about the MS method? It's the same idea, you draw triangles from scratch. _________________

I like the Milkshape idea. Can you adjust the position of the vertices before switching to face mode?
Also it would be great if you could select and connect your verts to create your own quads too as an alternative to it automatically creating triangular faces... useful for subdivision later on. |

DeleD 1.4 has this very function. At least, for existing vertices in your object. Try it, you have the beta version. |

I meant joining Trucker's collection of unconnected newly created verts -
The 1.4 connect function is, by the way, very cool. |

Probably the fact that I know how to do this in ms, but couldn't do anything with the deled method.

Yes. Just click and drag while in Move mode to adjust them.
I personally don't like MS. It's a very clunky working app. DeleD beats it hands down. I just like this one feature of it. Well, that and the timeline animator. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

In MS you lay down 3 vertices and then connect the triangle. In Deled you draw the polyline over the same space and you get the vertices and triangle at the same time. It's actually faster. _________________

One advantage the MS method has, is that you are able to decide how triangles are actually formed. You can decide to use triangles, quads, whatever. DeleD, using polylines, always uses earclipping triangulation to come up with the final result.
I actually want DeleD to feature single vertices too but I'm facing one problem: every object in DeleD must have vertices, edges and polygons - our drawing routines want it like that. Of course we can rewrite this, it just means a LOT of work for something I would like to up front if it really has advantages or not. This thread shows me that some of you really like the idea and others are less enthousiastic. Me? I'm not sure. |

Which is the same as drawing them one at a time with Polyline. _________________
