This is my first try testing the new DeleD lightmapper (after a shift at work with no sleep )
With the light objects hiden
I'le post some more when i get used to it,and get some sleep
Remember this was a very simple test with no thought as to where i placed the lights, but you get some idea what the lightmapper will be able to do.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW finally . I take it you uys are stil gonna work on it. i think the red light looksa bit weird but its red that sprolly why but the white light in the corner. it kinda looks unrealistic in the way it goes onto the wall. its ok while on the floor but then it just kinda turns itself and goes onto the wall. I can understand how it's done but light wouldn't do that in real life. BUT that is sooooo amazing |

Have to defend my baby here (ehrr... I mean the lightmapping, not dave):
While DeleD lighting model is definetely not perfect, the artifacts you point out there have more to do with the settings dave used on the individual lights than with any technical flaws.
The reason why the red light looks weird is because (I'm guessing here) Dave kept the attenation factors too low and the range limited. The light gets cut-off unrealistically, before it has the change to do a nice fadeout.
The white light in the corner is a bright spotlight with a small difference between inner and outer angle. Now get yourself a 90 degree corner, a _very_ dark room (with non-reflecting material on the floor and walls) and a bright focused spotlight (because that are the settings chosen here). You will see the light doing exactly that, I promise you. Ever watched the big spotlight during an amateur play in the school theatre? I operated it, so I am pretty sure I am right
The point is: the fact that DeleD settings allow you to render unrealistic lighting effect, doesn't mean that you can do more realistic things as well. |

Dave, that looks just like one of those standard examples of a radiosity lightmapper, excellent. Maybe we should just pretend it is *lol*. |

Ahm I wonder how the lightmaps are saved, as bmps right? And you can do it with every polygon, no matter how many vertices? _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

Yes, the bitmaps are saved as .bmp's. As an answer to your second question: The polygons are triangulated at the start of the lightmapping process, so the answer would be both yes and no |

We plan to release DeleD 0.9 LITE around the 5th of December. DeleD LITE will include the lightmapper with a few options disabled (if you want those, buy the PRO version which will come out in januari). |
